Yea sorry as a viewing experience Optus is hands down number 1, Adelaide Oval is number 2. The MCG’s history obviously carry’s but for pure viewing experience Optus is the best

Perth is daylights above every stadium. For appearance, views, atmosphere and just the right size. Have you been to the stadium? The seats have a pattern designed by an artist. The seats are spacious and spread out, which take a few thousand off capacity but heck its comfortable. Protected by rain. Ample corporate facilities. Easy to get in and out. Ample food and drink options. Its honestly a no brainer. Your comment that you don't like the grand stands to look the same (ie have a sense of unity and symmetry). But then MCG is first? When its acknowledged to be behind best practice and people like Eddie McGuire actually wants to reconstruct half the ground and rebuild it . Says quite a bit.

Your rating is not reflecting the true story. Optus stadium had won the best award internationally

You should add atmosphere to the criteria for ranking the stadiums. Adelaide Hills oval atmosphere was honestly amazing better than some games at Marvel

Ah, the iconic Norwood Oval, home of the mighty Redlegs. You're probably right, you'll be seeing more of it shortly, as Norwood should get the nod for the next AFL licence.

Great video. A couple of notes: *The Mt Barker ground is something of a white elephant - the local footy league and its clubs have refused to play at the ground for some reason or another *You're right about UTAS feeling like more of a footy ground than a cricket ground, as it was designed for footy first and foremost, with cricket in Launceston being played at the NTCA Ground. In Hobart, Bellerive was traditionally a cricket ground (along with the TCA Ground) with footy in the city being split between North Hobart Oval and KGV at Glenorchy. Also, I'd be interested to see where you would rank: 1) Cazaly's Stadium in Cairns - has hosted games in recent years, but not this season 2) The rumoured Barossa Valley ground which will apparently host a Gather Round game next season (supposedly there will be vineyards near the stadium which will be seen on the TV telecast)

It’s your list BUT I would say that you cannot say that the MCG is the best stadium in the AFL at the moment. Maybe best atmosphere, certainly biggest, probably most historic, but Optus and AO are better. GC Stadium is actually quite nice. Outside there is grassed areas to eat and chill out before the game. The GABBA is awful for what it is. Seriously outdated and it’s going to be a disaster up there with the Games.

Manuka also has the old MCG scoreboard
  • @Power_Prawnstar
Havent been to Optus, but Ive been to the G a few times and AO plenty. I like the G when its rocking but I think AO is a better stadium. Optus looks cool, but its very same, same, it looks corporate.

I would rate the Gold Coast stadium higher than the Gabba, I have been to both and neither is a bad stadium but the vibe around the GC stadium is really different, you have kids playground, plenty of space for kicking the footy around, they bring in performers. The down side to the stadium looking empty is the view you get from the concourse as it is built at that perfect height for great viewing, you can find it 10 people deep in spots! Fun fact about the GC light towers, when the original stadium was built for the bears the light towers were never paid for and have never been to this day.

GMHBA is only a sponsorship name. The Geelong Football Club would love to name the ground Ford Stadium, unfortunately the Ford motor company clashes with the AFL's major sponsor the Toyota motor company. So that is why since the late 90s, Kardinia Park (that's the original name) has been renamed with different sponsors.
  • @mickg1972
Cannot do anything to the Adelaide Oval as the trees, hill and scoreboard are all heritage listed
  • Optus Stadium is amazing, the MCG has plenty of concourses where you can't even see daylight, and a 30k crowd at Optus is a lot more pleasant to look at than that at the MCG. Adelaide Oval is always #1 even tho I've never been
  • Well done, informative and fair minded. Filled in a lot of questions I had about stadiums. MCG has got to be the world's best stadium. Like to see video on stadiums around the world. Most enjoyable.
  • @aaron6963
I reckon you’ve mistaken Optus Stadium because I’ve seen a number of videos of the 10 best stadiums in the world with Optus Stadium being one of them and not any other stadium in Australia.

Meh rankings should ask players which surfaces are the best to play on. That would be a better ranking.
