When I was little my late aunt would dress up in her clown attire and volunteer at events that happened in our local park. All the kids loved her and she would always have those little strawberry candies that she would pass out to the kids, it was a great time

Quick correction note of love from NC/TN: Appalachia/Appalachian is pronounced with a hard "ch." You can remember it this way, "If you mispronounce Appalachia, I'll throw an apple at cha." The entomology of the name is bizarre and a fun rabbit hole to go down.
Also, I too find myself dressing like a boy I'd have a crush on in middle school. It's a vibe. -
