This is the first video in a new series featuring the 1/12 scale, functional, Mini Milling Machine from PM Research. The base is all draft angles from the casting process, so I share the setup and philosophy on where I chose to start. Take a Look !!

"Fake door guys. That's not gonna work for me. [...] That will be a real door [...]" You know, those are the kind of remarks that reinforce that I have subscribed to the right channel. :)

It's just awesome, the way that you just "drop in" 3 or 4 tips in a one-minute clip about aligning the surfaces... It pays to watch every second of your videos.

Who else hits the thumbs up before the video starts? I love how you think outside the box with your setups. You must have been hell with an Etch a Sketch. Mill master.
  • Great to see you doing another model. I missed watching you crafting these amazing mini-machines! Keep up the good work. 😅
  • @dick8193
Always great to see another project take off.
  • Thanks for all the time you put into the teaching side of machining and setups. I am an above amateur/hobby machinist and have found a gap in this service in my small town where the local guy is retiring in about 2 more year's and im aspiring to start to take up the shortfalls for when this time comes.your video's have been a great help if not to learn new techniques but also to confirm what i was thinking i the first place. Again thanks alot and as always keep them coming.

You can learn so much from building models about set up that translates to larger parts. Joe's set up ideas are priceless. Some I have figured out over the years on my own, However many I have not even considered. And set up and order of operations are the key to success more often than not. I have learned so much from Joe. Thank you sir.

I watch Joe's channel not just because of what he makes, but more so for the lessons. The setup ideas I keep in my pocket. I'm an amateur, if that, but the knolage I gain here has come in handy. The cool projects helps as well but not as much as the learing.

Impressive game of 3D chess getting all surfaces aligned in their appropriate plane. Looking forward to another amazing Joe Pi model.

Watching the video 4 days after having a TKR, your comment "notching the femur" gave me a chuckle! Looks like the start of another great series.

Not even one minute into the video and you know it's going to be another masterclass in engineering...'fake door guys. That's not going to work for me'... Shelves are a great idea, so long as you put a few tools on there,😜. I don't build these machines Joe but the amount of ideas that emerge from a mini series like this; whether it be future datums or how to hold the part, they are just invaluable. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. All the very best.

There are not many things more enjoyable to me, than watching a skilled craftsman demonstrate his talent, glad to be watching another series. Thank you.

Fantastic! Another machine build series. Those are a favorite watch with "shop gems" sprinkled throughout.
  • @be007
like those little model projects joe ! cheers ben.
  • A forever problem to fit the job within the casting shape. Made worse as the castings get smaller and smaller to save cost. I love Joes approach and the thinking ahead. Also like the minimal amount of talk. Some channels do far too much explaining, often twice. ❤

Great new project! In my job before I retired, I had to deal with castings a lot. Finding a good starting datum is crucial and if a couple hundred or thousand pieces are involved it needs to be a consistent datum. I love these model videos. A guy can learn a lot from them. Thanks for another good one Joe.

I learn so much from watching you build these kits. I’m glad you have the time and are enjoying yourself. 😊
