Zakk is such a nice guy too. Met him outside their tour bus in montana. Such a funny humble man. I just thanked him for his work and asked if he’d sign my No More Tears cassette that was my dads. He bought it the day it came out in September of 1991. Id told Zakk that and he was humbled to hear how I’d been a fan since I was a toddler. Needless to say that cassette and the paperwork included is framed and hanging on the wall in my living room. By far my most prized possession.
  • "No Rest" is brilliant. So glad they picked Zakk. The "Miracle Man" riff is bananas. "Devil's Daughter", "Bloodbath", "Crazy Babies". Fantastic album.

I was in the Jersey music scene and Zakk (I remember him as Jeffrey) was WELL KNOWN even before Ozzy!!!! I was playing in metal, jazz and proto-grunge bands(it was just called alternative music before it was named grunge). Zakk heard about Ozzy auditioning guitarists on WPLJ and called in (I'll never forget it. I was sitting in my buddies van listening to the interview and Ozzy was saying that all of the guys auditioning sounded like Yngwie on acid). Anyway, they told him off air where to send his demo and the rest was history. The news about Zakk spread like wild fire, plus the scene back then was pretty close knit...we all knew each other. Zakk use to give guitar and bass lessons at Jackson Music in Jackson Township and played in a psuedo-hair metal band and he was just a beast of a guitarist. You could tell he was the talent in that band. I wasn't surprised he made it...everyone knew he definitely had the talent but he had the work ethic and the intangibles too. I'm really happy that he turned out to be the legend that he is today...but again, certainly not surprised in the least.
  • I remember the Buzz of ZW being a ‘kid’ plucked from nowhere. It was like hitting the lottery. I saw him on his first tour, and he held his own like an old pro.

love zakk. Love Randy. Never ever forget the MASSIVE contribution to Ozzy's solo career by Bob Daisley and to a lesser extent, Lee Kerslake. ❤

I remember when Zakk came along back in the day. My guitar instructor here in a small town in central Ohio sent in a demo tape but he obviously wasn't hired (despite being very good as well). A few years later, that same guy named his future son Zakk.

The moment Jeff Wielandt became Zakk Wylde was right there in the audition space.

My first hearing of a Zack Wyld guitar playing which had me floored when I was in HighSchool : listen to the Opening riff to Miracle man! One of the catchiest metal riffs of all time...(a Jimmy Hendrix variation of foxy lady) was hooked to that sound and wah wah vibrato ever since!!! oh and I shoud also mention that killer solo in that song!

I’ve seen Zakk three times; twice with BLS and once with Ozzy. Absolutely one of the last true guitar gods. I missed him on the Pantera run this year, but hopefully they’ll do another run in a couple years!
