Review:

Really good, from the languorous, elegiac opening to the full throttle finish, I enjoyed it all. I note that IMDb shows a running time of 95 minutes whilst my new Arrow DVD runs nearer 115. Can that be so, 20 minutes cut from the previous print? It is just possible for there is a surprisingly large amount of time given to introduction of the characters and the town so that we might become totally involved. Goodness knows what anyone would make of much of this film without the precious opening ten minutes where Giuliano Gemma is introduced to us, literally as a sh*t shoveler before coming under the wing of the majestic Lee van Cleef. The famous Almeria set and surrounds plays its part well too and whilst the tale is fairly simple (revenge!) it is so well told and whilst the opening scenes seem to show a ghost town by the end we have seen it teeming with folks from all around. A fine film with much violence. Written By Christopher-Underwood.

Van Cleef was one of the good ones... he was a natural. He played that bad/good guy just perfectly. Not many can pull that off well.

Lee Van Cleef. Whether he plays a good guy or a bad guy or somewhere in between, he should've gotten an honorary academy award for bringing so much joy and excitement to our lives with his God given awesome acting talent.
  • I had no idea Lee Van Cleef made so many Spaghetti westerns. YouTube is a treasure trove of these movies.

Almost 2 million views in 10 months is amazing. I'm so happy to see that people still have an interest in oldschool spaghetti westerns.
  • I've got to say, Lee Van Cliff was simply magnetic in his Spaghetti Western roles. Whenever he strolled onto the screen, dust swirling around his boots, eyes as cold as steel, I found myself leaning forward, totally hooked. He had this raw, authentic grittiness that really brought the wild, wild west to life, right there in my living room. But what I admired most was how he added layers to his characters, making them so much more than your typical gunslingers. He wasn't just playing tough guys - he was playing real, complex individuals who had their own stories to tell. That kind of depth made his performances unforgettable for me. Honestly, Van Cliff's performances are a big part of what made me fall in love with Spaghetti Westerns. His style, his intensity, his knack for bringing characters to life - they're all part of the magic. What an incredible talent he was. His legacy in the genre will live on forever.

"The weapon that will kill me hasn't been invented yet" What a legend he was .
  • Lee van Cleef was "the man" no one did it better, I enjoyed his acting for years. Ruggedly Handsome,. and he aged like a fine wine. Underrated Actor,.
  • I wasn't expecting that to happen at the end. Lee van cleef should be up at the top with all the great actors. this was a brilliant movie. Ten stars. Rip Lee.
  • I watched this movie 30 years ago (1992)! I watched again today, and I still remember a lot of it… Great talented actors!

as much as I am a huge fan of Clint Eastwood, I think Lee van Cleef is the ultimate good/bad guy in western movies and that unique look of 'those gunfighter angel eyes' is recognised instantly all around the world. A much underrated actor, but not in my eyes.
