On Godzilla day (November 3rd), Toho dropped a new short film at Godzilla fest 2021, titled "Godzilla vs Hedorah", directed by Kazuhiro Nagakawa, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Yoshimitsu Banno’s Godzilla vs Hedorah (1971), and the 67th anniversary of the Godzilla franchise. In this video, I share my quick thoughts and review of the 5 min short film.

    What did you think of the Godzilla vs Hedorah (2021) short film? do you wanna see Toho make more of these short films and do you think suitmation can make a comeback? let me know in the comments! (As I've said in the video, I wasn't planning on making this video since I had other things to do, but seeing how this dropped on Godzilla day and we're in Godzilla month, I decided to not be left behind and make a video discussing this. I personally would like to see suitmation make a return, as much as I like cgi, there's no beating the speciality, art and craftsmanship of Kaiju suits, as the Godzilla franchise revolution the genre and film industry in Japan with this technique, plus you just get more impact and sense of realism by having real actors performing in front of the camera instead of everything just being done on green screen. At the same time, CGI has advanced so much that movie monsters can be created with much more believability on the computer, that's just how I feel about both CGI and Suitmation.)

    This could be a really good way of bringing back suitmaition. I think it’s a likely that we’re not gonna see suitmaition in the main Toho films. But they could bring it back for more short films it’s a good compromise

    Even if finalgoji is ugly, this short is fantastic. Also the fight was very nicely lit, it along with the Pachinko cutscene show the strenght of tokusatsu. Personally I was kinda heartbroken by the possibility of suitmation completely vanishing from the franchise. This... this puts a smile on my face.

    I'm not really a fan of Hedorah, but I really liked this short.

    The only complaints I have about it is the part where the buildings blocked the Kaiju, and that hedorah didn’t really use his corrosiveness against Godzilla, nobody knows how corrosive hedorah 2004 is tho so It’s fine, but he did use his smoke from that pipe he has which is cool.

    To be honest I am a dino fan but not a kaiju fan as the only one I like is rampage but well nice job

    I'm glad to see hedorah, one of the more obscure kaijus, return and its refreshing to see him actually give Godzilla a fight instead of him just getting blasted like back in final wars.
