deadass, if i heard that in the middle of the ocean... i'd say "hello?" like an idiot.

So, as an active duty sailor, can confirm, would drag me to my death.

“And firmly pray arrive the day He’s never more to roam” Probably my favourite part. At first it sounds like a young maiden praying and hoping that her lover will return to her having satisfied his thirst for adventure and danger, so that they can settle down and be together, live happily. It’s innocent and sweet.
but then you realise that this is sung by a siren who’s trying to lure a sailor to his death, and suddenly him “not roaming anymore” takes on a much darker and more eerie meaning

Imagine a Disney Ariel who sang like this. Then Ursula takes the golden voice...

All pirates: LOOKS LIKE WE'RE DYING TONIGHT!
  • You guys are easily swayed by the beautiful voice, didn't you learn anything from the Pirates of the Caribbean?!
  • @hiccoops
how am I supposed to NOT be lured into the darkest deeps of the ocean when a siren's voice is THIS beautiful??? edit: what is this amount of likes!!! thanks lol

Just to clarify, for people who didn't know "gay" used to mean happy/glad or...we'll jolly.
  • Imagine hearing this song in the middle of the ocean whilst on your own
  • This makes me believe that sirens are among us. This can't be a simple human voice. Every time I listen to this, I am at someplace else in my brain I didn't know existed!

I just realised that the line “Conversing with a young lass who seemed to be in pain, saying “William, when you go I fear you’ll ne’er return again”.” Is in fact the mermaids reciting an interaction they overheard between Will and Elizabeth, they even described him accurately “his hair, it hangs in ringlets, his eyes as black as coal.”

Welp. Guess I'm drowning, because there's no way I'm not following this gorgeous voice into the waters.

I’m listening to this while it is poring and lightning outside. I can just see the open ocean and huge waves. Such a magical song.

Haunting, eerie, flowing, beautiful. Like the sea itself
  • Set this to .75x speed and you’ll literally feel yourself being drawn in...
  • This and, "Come Little Children" from Hocus Pocus are the two most entrancing and hypnotic songs ever.
