Max using the phrase “young and hip”to describe a sound really sent me, man has a kid for a few years and is now 60 years old

As a Brazilian, I wanted to comment on Blanka's theme: Not only they incorporate the airhorns, which was a staple of Brazilian funk for some time, they also incorporate some sounds that sound like Berimbau, which is a instrument mainly played in capoeira groups. They really put the Brazil in Blanka this time. Good shit.

I am physically incapable of staying still when Jamie's theme comes on. The urge to groove is supernatural. I've never had a theme alone get me to try a character before but...dude.

The music is very, VERY different. However, I like the energy it brings. Definitely sets it apart and creates a unique atmosphere for the game. My favorite themes so far are Ken and Juri.

Dee Jay's theme suits him so well. Not only because he's Jamaican, but because his fighting stance has him dancing. And the dancing intensifies after he lands a combo. To him it's not a fight to the death, it's a vibe.

21:32 Ryu's theme actually uses a lot of Japanese instruments, the Sho at the start, and a bunch of string instruments in the song itself I think it having a bit of Mr. Worldwide is fitting though, he's been everywhere in the world cuz he's been in every game

Ken's, Ryu's and Jamie's themes all hit the spot for me. The bounce on Ken's theme really gives it the pop and personality.

Ryu's track does fit Ryu currently if you play World Tour Mode. When you meet Ryu, he's a lot more calm and relaxed, less more about finding strength and more about enlightenment and being at peace. His intro, mannerisms and interactions just fit with this. Less hard stoic and more just rolling with it, and I'm 100% all for it.

Listening to the themes, I think the Ryu theme is probably supposed to be more of "travel" instead of "Japanese". That might be why it's a little jarring, but I think it definitely fits his character in terms of guiding someone into this new style of street fighter.

This music is meant to be more dynamic and mood based than older SFs that were more melodic compostiions. It shifts with the match more than even 3S music did, so they can't have long phrases and melodies, since the matches are fast paced, changing on a moment's notice. Totally different approach to a SF soundtrack, and it will take decades for people to appreciate it (as usual with SF). A couple weeks of listening (outside of the context of gameplay, no less) isn't going to compare with 30 years of nostaliga, and people need to understand that.

The themes are more character focused rather than battle focused in my opinion. In sf5 everyone music made them seem like an incredible hero or diabolical villain. In sf6, the themes seem more like normal representations of the character's personalities.

Jamie’s theme picking up as the song goes on longer matches with how he gets stronger as he drinks. I LOVE IT.

The best thing about Zangief’s new theme is that it feels EXACTLY like a pro wrestling entrance walkout song. I could see him walking out and posing while doing his normal walk animation towards the ring. The older versions of his song feel really off in comparison to this one.
-
Absolutely adored Zangief's theme. It's fun, it fits the character's origins, and it's modern

Wow, Manon's theme is literally perfect. You see that character and her moves and this is the song that plays in your head.

I'm 3 months late to this video, but I gotta add: You mentioned that all the themes have a cultural identity to the characters, but Ryu doesn't really. I think that's perfect considering who Ryu is; a traveller. He wanders the world trying to learn everything he can from anyone he meets, so his theme blends elements from a lot of places. The song really gives me the feeling of exploring a new place, which I think is the point, considering it's title. "Viator", an old word meaning "Traveller".

I like to think JP's theme is representative of his composure. The first two rounds are slow, calculated and tense due to his stylish and imposing demeanor. But by the final round JP has had it up to here with you, throwing off his schedule by the simple act of resisting, and the facade falls off as he goes absolutely ham with the Psycho Power.

I think Jamie’s theme is the perfect fighting game theme. It sounds like a drunken bar fight in some classic kung fu flick. Also, it has that fighting game KICK that Luke’s theme lacks
-
My thing is, SFV really did such an amazing job with (most) of the classic character themes, we really needed to take a break from them. Like you can’t just go back in and try to one-up the SFV guile theme immediately. Gotta build some distance: let us long for those themes a bit.

originally i wasn't TOO keen on the soundtrack but the more i listened to it, as well as actually getting the game too really changed my views on the soundtrack as a whole. i think it's fantastic, definitely having the same overall hip-hop influenced techniques that games like third strike incorporated, but with a fresh modern spin on it. i think the problem is that just a lot of people just dislike... change. and i agree, especially as an aspie, i despise any sudden changes to my schedule or routine... change sucks, but change by itself is not a bad thing. could you imagine the game having the exact same soundtrack style that street fighter ii had, even down to returning characters having their exact same themes still? it would be lame if capcom didn't actively change things up and having variation for every entry
