Violence broke out at a St George's Day event in central London on Tuesday afternoon, the Metropolitan Police reported.

Mounted officers intervened when a group breached a police cordon at Richmond Terrace in Whitehall, designated for the event.

The force posted on X, earlier in the day stating their anticipation of the attendance of "far-right groups and groups linked to football clubs" at the event.

Videos shared on social media showed large clashes and individuals being detained by officers at the event.

A Section 60 order was issued, granting police authority to increase stop and searches.

Six people were arrested at the St George’s Day event held in Whitehall.

  • The police don’t show this level of aggression when they are policing the pro Palestine marches.
  • Brave Met Police, attacking elderly people and vets, on a day of celebration. How much lower can they sink. Absolutely disgusting behavior by these uniformed thugs. I am 76 and was meant to be there, but was unable to go. My grandaughters had said all along, I should not go, as the police would kick off, which is exactly what happened.
  • The police caused this. When English people can not walk down English streets. Try showing all the peaceful get together.

Im Irish and proud, i want OUR 6 counties back, Dont or never will accept or believe in your monarchy or army. but we are both facing this problem now on our islands. Never had a problem with the average English bloke or lassie. Its Clear your police have been instructed to cause chaos so the media make it out like your all trouble makers. So starts the propaganda. Never back down and celebrate your culture. Take your country back. We in Ireland will and are fighting back. Stand up for yourselves 🇮🇪🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

The police were Completely to blame for this. Heavy handed two tier policing thuggery on full display.if these boot boys had not been deployed these scenes would not have occured.

Im sorry! I was there, all this was incited by the police and only when the tv crews turned up. Why were they charging at the crowd who were on a peaceful march. Another exqmple of two tier policing im afraid.
