you know it hits hard when he tell's reinhardt "be their shield", and in game he'll say "I'll be your shield"
-
it always gives me chills when Rein says "I am your shield" in game solely because he was told to "be their shield"
-
And here we are, rewatching this masterpiece after pve cancel.. Edit: Well, that's aged well:D
-
Seeing Reinhardt quiet is freaky. He's always so happy and energetic. His silence is deafening.
-
Cheers to reinhardt fighting the most cancerous team ever.
-
"get back and protect your team" blizzard lowkey hinting us
-
"You gave Overwatch everything, and then they pushed you out! Why would you go back to them?" Brig was talking to the hardcore players all the way back then...
-
That opening scene where Brig reminds Rein that OW abandoned him hits different now
-
"Get back there and protect your team!" "Ah, they're just slowing me down!" Boy, if that doesn't describe every Overwatch player.
-
"The team needs you. Be their shield." and "I have been called, I must answer. Always." still makes me tear up, even three years later.
-
This is definitely the best cinematic, only the Hanzo and Genji one can come close. Edit: I was reminded of The Last Bastion. Definitely a close second imo but Honor and Glory still sits at the top for me.
-
4:25 this hits so hard knowing how Rein interacts with other heroes in-game, he is always so upbeat, always ready to protect those in need
-
In game: Goofy characters who talk too much. In cinematic: Depressed war veterans. EDIT: When I'm talking about in game, I mean like when they're actually fighting. Brazil gets invaded, and you get quips like "Nice vacation spot!" I understand appearing aloof in certain situations, but they're aloof like 90% of the time. Like they're on some family picnic. Imagine if Reindhardt starts making a number of jokes while protecting his unit from bullets.
-
Fun fact: This story is basically a Pro Rein teaching a Newbie Rein how to play the character in-game.
-
This is a really harsh reminder, rewatching this so many years later, that the Blizzard that used to create premium, industry leading content, the one we once knew and loved is dead and buried.
-
The Blizzard Animation team deserves more credit, honestly
-
Reinhardt in game: "HAHA funny old German dude" Reinhardt in backstory: *A man horribly scarred by Battle, losing his mentor and best friend at a Young age, paid with an eye for his mistakes*
-
This isn't an animated short, it's a PSA for all Reinhardt mains who charge into the entire enemy team.
-
Rein has a new voice line with ana that goes "if I do not answer... what else do I have?" And i feel pain remembering this cinematic
-
6:06 I love that you can just barely hear Balderich utter "Hammer Down!" as he deals the final blow, gives me chills and gives more weight to the line whenever I hear Reinhardt say it.
