You don't need ghosts for a horror movie. Science is enough. How ironic.

My father died of radiation after two months. He was the driver of the evacuation group.
  • My deepest respect and honor to the people who sacrificed their health and life to save others at Chernobyl. God bless them.

After 4 years, Chernobyl is still the most thrilling series I've ever seen
  • @jemy2002
The crackling of the dosimeter is scarier than any horror movie effect
  • Chernobyl fans: “The show was so good, we want season 2.” Ukrainian people: wait what?
  • As a Ukrainian I have to say that I'm geniuenly astounded at how accurate this show is. The greatest miniseries I had seen

I have seen hundreds of horror films over the years and none came close to the terror I felt watching Chernobyl. I have worked as a Chemical engineer for a big company in the UK and a disaster like Chernobyl is not completely avoidable. We completely safety tests everyday. Everyday. However the fact that problems can and do happen means that the idea of a chemical explosion is possible. Night shift workers get tired, electrical equipment fails, people make mistakes. I'm not saying an explosion at the place I work would be anywhere near the scale of Chernobyl but it would cost lives. The illusion of safety is frail and thin - this is what my professor told me on my last day as a student with him and it has stuck with me my whole life. He also told me to not f**k around with things if I'm not 100% sure but pressure from the bosses can sometimes over rule what you have to do. Please stay safe.

"You are dealing with something that has never occurred on this PLANET before." This line always gets me. Amazing, powerful miniseries.

Reality is the scariest genre of all.

My grandmother regularly drove to Chernobyl (Prypjat) to give food and clothes, transport people etc. She is still alive and I am very proud that she helped many people.
  • Radiation is a far more, true, real life terrifying villain, than any fictional villain created. Plus, the most horrifying sound effect to ever existed, the slow clicking that becomes a deafening static crackling from a dosimeter detecting high radiation

Chernobyl fans: AMAZING we want a season 2 Ukraine people: what what...
  • My grandfather was one of the soldiers, who helped in the Chernobyl disaster. He said they always drank vodka, because vodka helped to reduce radiation contamination in the body. But still, he died of liver cancer in the age of 58, that was caused by radiation. I'm very proud of him and I'm sure he would be glad to see these series and was very happy to see the final titles "In the memory of all who suffered and sacrificed" if he was alive. I started crying when I saw those titles. Me and my family want to thank all the people who made this film.

This is hands down the best mini series ever. Maybe in part because it actually happened - but it was also just so well done. Stellan Skarsgard is incredible. He said so much by saying very little at times
  • Apparently the real life survivor Lyudmila Ignatenko was really upset by this series, claiming HBO didn’t consult her whatsoever, though HBO has disputed this. Also as a result of the show showing her when she was taking care of her radioactive dying husband, she’s gotten a bunch of death threats by disgruntled viewers of the show. You can have whatever opinions you want of her, but please don’t go attacking her specifically, hasn’t she already suffered so much?

So, the biggest enemy is... pride. Not wanting to admit there were mistakes, that something is not flawless.
  • @KrazyNigerian14
The scary thing is how people still ignore science to this day.
  • When you listen to the news and realize another season is not that unrealistic anymore...
  • @YoYo73
One of the most powerful series I've ever watched. I have watched it 3 times already. I still come back to this trailer again and again. Everything about this series is perfect. This trailer gives me chills.
