Sonic Dream Team Review: Is it Overhyped?

What are your thoughts on Sonic Dream Team?

Dream Team is fun overall, I’m usually not into mobile games but this felt comparable to a 3d handheld title

I agree with everything you said. This game NEEDED the stomp and also a bounce bracelet. Also in my opinion the game has way too many grind rails, it feels like half of the time I’m grinding. Overall though it’s a great game.

Sonic Dream Team is honestly a good Game and I really like the Game. The thing that I really like about the Game is like that the game has a lot of content for people to check out in Sonic Dream Team and I’m so happy that the Sonic Dream Team boss fights are better than Sonic Superstars boss fights and the final boss fight is decent. Overall the game is pretty solid.

Honestly I don't care if its overhyped... If there is one thing SEGA is good at, its hearing the loud feedback and trying to correct themselves by it (usually resulting in overcorrecting it, when it comes to negative feedback). So telling them that THIS level of polish, with this high quality animation, with the ability to play as Sonic's friends again, is DEFINITELY a good thing. If its a good game, then YES it deserves the credit.

I played the entire game and was shocked to hear that there was only nine levels. The game just feels so big

Sonic Dream Team has a lot of content and is perhaps the most ambitious Sonic mobile game. I honestly think it is very overhyped because the levels look they are right out of fall guys rather than the way they look in most Sonic games. It is however really polished with few glitches and the physics are good so it is a lot of fun to play the game.

It's definitely overhyped but it's a good spinoff budget 3D Sonic game. It feels like it would've been great on handheld! And honestly has better level design than Sonic Lost World on the 3DS so that's great!

It was kinda over hyped but it’s still my favorite mobile sonic game! Even though I didn’t like the idea of it being an Apple Arcade exclusive, the levels are awesome, my overall rating is 5000/10

Nah, it's peak. I would love for the next open zone game's "cyberspace" stages to have level design akin to this game's. The stages encourage fun 3D explorative platforming rather than short boost centric hallways. The boost is just one of the many tools in your pocket rather than the one thing the game asks you to use. It made me feel like a kid playing SA1 all over again.

The guardian hunter’s design is absolute peak

I was fighting the intrusive thoughts to stomp in this game but overall game is fun. Still wish the stomp was part of the controls tho

This game puts Sonic Superstars to shame that's what I think. It's a much better game in every way imaginable and I never thought in a million years I'd be saying that about a Mobile game.

Yes, I agree with some of your points, the knuckles glide, and turn speed, but I do feel like the ways you showed you dying was not on the controls, you opportunities to stay up, so I will say that’s a skill issue. And the a mobile game would have too many buttons on screen to have the modern console controls like the stomp so it’s better and simpler the way it is for a mobile game. You also can’t compare this to sonic speed simulator because it’s a Roblox game. It’s also not necessary to have a double jump because, just like frontiers spin dash, you can use the environment and some skill built over time, you can launch yourself really high to where you don’t need to use a double jump. It’s like how sonic needs to use the environment to traverse and explore the zone. I like your videos though, I just had a few thoughts

Interesting video, Chris! I'm not going to lie, this game is actually pretty good. Everyone is going to have their own issues with this game, which I think is pretty normal. I see that you don't like Knuckles' glide, because it's definitely not as strong as the SA2 glide. I also feel like some of the voice acting is a little bit off, as well as some of the gameplay and difficulties. I still think they did well will this game, even though we don't know if the game will get a lot of hate. I would like to see more video essays on this game if it can happen. Again, great video!

I definitely like dream team! The movement speed feels a bit slow sometimes but zooming the camera in help with that. Even with max graphics it seems to run at a smooth 50-60 fps! If this game was the next mainline sonic like generations or colors, it would be amazing!
