The Little Mermaid is an upcoming American musical fantasy film directed by Rob Marshall from a screenplay written by David Magee from a story by Magee, Marshall and John DeLuca. It is a production of Walt Disney Pictures and is a live-action adaptation of the 1989 animated film of the same name, which itself is loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen's tale of the same name. It is produced by Rob Marshall, John DeLuca, Marc Platt and Lin-Manuel Miranda, the latter whom co-wrote new songs for the remake as the lyricist, Alan Menken is set to return as the composer for both the score and the songs. The film will star Halle Bailey, Jonah Hauer-King, Javier Bardem and Melissa McCarthy, with Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay, and Awkwafina in voice roles.
The Little Mermaid is scheduled to be released worldwide on May 26, 2023

Am I legit the ONLY person who sees how cartoony thoes big googly eyes look on Sebastian?! Like, yeah, he's SHAPED like a real crab (instead of a horrifying turtle / lobster), but like he still looks animated and cartoony to me. IDK. I also really like the natural rusty gold/ strawberry blonde hair on Ariel, especially with her new teal/pink iridescent color scheme. She looks like an ocean sunset.

And Disney KNOWS what the queens want. They came prepared! That rock? The push up? The Wave? That opted up, sustained belt?! No crumbs.

We also have to remember, Halle is Black, we can’t just put any red on our heads, or else it’ll look like party city. Part of a hair team is matching hair color to skin tone. So this natural ginger looks great with her complexion!

It's tiring to listen to criticism all the time without understanding that it's a live action movie. It is obvious that the animals will look different. Some people found it very dark, now they say that there is a lot of color in the sea scenes and too much CGI. In the end, you can't please everyone and we should just be happy because all in all, she looks very beautiful, Halle sings beautifully and is adorable. You just have to enjoy it

I think it's just too soon to judge the animals, we saw them for all of two seconds each lol. Regardless, I just want to hear all the music, Halle's voice is perfection so far so this is going to be epic!!!

I will say this, it’s the most intrigued I’ve been towards one of these remake movies in a while. But as The Rock said at the Oscars, animation is the definition of film, and I’m hoping Disney doesn’t forget that. That being said, I’m seeing this regardless because I live with the number one Little Mermaid fan.

I’m so disappointed no one is talking about how incredible Halle looks PERFECT to fit this other world type look and we know her voice is phenomenal, im so proud of her!!!

I was expecting the main characters to all be cgi Sebastian & Flounder...I guess their thought is how would it look to have Flounder have emotions but none of the other fish. ...I am disappointed with that but you bet I will see it. Music is so great!

I'm so excited about this movie. I think what helps with the animals is that they're actually talking. I personally like Seb. He's kinda cute with his beady little eyes. Lol. I've heard her sisters are gonna have more screen time. They are in the trailer as well. Apparently, each sister represents a different sea.

I enjoyed your review! Good laughter amongst friends chillin’. I don’t know what you said in the previous review, but this one was fun, and fair; even though you are going to have to let go of your disappointment in the characters looks. You know going in, so set your expectations accordingly!
