I lived in USA from 1974 to 2016. I brought all relatives to USA. Now I have moved back to Kerala since 2016, almost 8 years in Kerala. I love it here. With suffient money which I have, life is a lot better in Kerala. Roads are much improved. Internet and payment system is super. Food supplies, medical care, school system are much better here.

Since retiring in Kerala was far away in terms of time, I ended up taking a 3 year sabbatical before COVID. It was the best experience ever. I ate about 16 jackfruits during that time. Ate all of my favorite Kerala dishes. After coming back to the US, I decided to just work less and live a simple life. Most of my friends work 6-7 days a week, have big homes but don’t even get a chance to sit on their sofa. I grew up in the US but always loved Kerala and its food, culture, language, etc. The main reason many get stuck here is because of the kids and grandkids. Don’t let excuses stop your dreams. I still have plans to spend more time over there in Kerala.

I think the best option is to settle in Dubai and also invest in both Kerala and Dubai. You can easily manage those too.

Hi, I am out of Kerala science 1964 Aug. I am in USA since 1974, and almost 8 years I spend at North Africa. My children are born in USA and they are high achievers . And very highly placed and prohibited inter acting with other nations politics. And still my children goes to Kerala and enjoy company of relatives. And still my kids contribute to the welfare of the locals or neighbors The problem is Kerala administration is rowdy. It has to change for the Benifits of people. .

Biggest mistake American Malayalees did is not sending their kids to spend their summer vacations with their grandparents.

കേട്ടാൽ തോന്നും കേരളത്തിൽ എന്നും ഹർത്താലാണെന്ന്.

I came to the US in 1975, worked here and now retired. I also brought here three of my younger brothers who are now happily settled here. My parents have been gone, but I do have four sisters and a brother who live there and whose families are happily settled in Kerala. My brothers and I go to Kerala frequently from here and together we gather with all of my siblings making our visit memorable each time we go and wanting to do it again and again. Although I’m in my late 70s, I still drive and do a lot of things including shopping, cooking, cleaning and other things that I used to do in my younger years. Now that I also have several grandchildren, I look forward to seeing the, cooking for them (yes, they love Indian food) and spending time with them. I and my brothers came here because of the hardship we faced in India during the 70s and 80s. I am looking forward to spending the rest of my life in the country that gave us so much and still giving me the opportunity to live my life to the fullest.

Interesting to know that Dr. Sriram Nene and his wife Madhuri Dixit along with their kids moved back to Mumbai in 2011. Dr. Nene is the son of Indian immigrants who had left India in 1962. He was born in London, educated in the US. Despite a rewarding career as a Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeon, he moved to India in 2011. For each individual, it depends on the prism they look through.
