Deep in the province of Sabah, Borneo is a completely remote virgin rainforest. Imbak Canyon is home to 1000s of plant and animal species and a place few have ever seen. Learn how Petronas is protecting the area: www.yayasanpetronas.com.my/programs/imbak-canyon-s…

As Sarawakian who live in rural area at Borneo island, jungle is our daily view and our childhood playground. I wanted the Borneo island stay underrated.
  • Amazon - only 55m years old. Borneo and malaysian rainforest - 130 to 140m years old The oldest rainforest is queesland's daintree forest.

I believe your guide was a Comando during his service. and especially if they from Sabah or Sarawak, they are the best in the jungle.

I'm reading an old book called "Into the Heart of Borneo" right now that details an expedition there of two scientists back in the 80s. Jungles are so fascinating. Super well shot video!!

Keep the forest safe and sound my fellow Malaysians! Salam dari Indonesia 💕
  • I'm from Tambunan and it's 4 hours away from Imbak Canyon. Gotta say, the rainforest is absolutely magical and holds its values. It left untouchable by the government to preserve it. I love nature and I hope you'd enjoy your stay here. Cheers!

Lucky me. I was in Sukau rainforest lodge - Sabah in 2019. 2 hours by boat inside of jungle. Paradise on Earth.. pigmey elefants, crocks, proboscis monkeys, hornbills, and wild orangutangs... would love to come back.. Thank you for your videos 😘

As someone who's born in Sabah and grew up there, really grateful and happy you guys got to be there and experience the nature! iirc Imbak Canyon wasn't really known amongst the locals until a few years ago (would say even some locals today wouldn't know about it) cause like you mentioned it on the video, the area was newly discovered. Made me happy to know the people there are passionate about it and really thankful they're preserving the place! Hope you guys enjoyed your stay at Sabah and thanks for the wonderful video and about the "can't go into the water for a swim" thing, while they might be keeping it preserved or for safety reasons, Sabah natives also has this "adat" (custom?) that nature should be respected bcs we believe they have spirits, kind of like animism. And some places in the forests shouldn't be bothered less there will be consequences

This video was so great! Glad you brought back the adventure and exploration! Borneo forest is so beautiful

Another one location you need to travel and visit, the Maliau Basin forest, known as Sabah's lost world. The location between Kalabakan district(You need access from Tawau district) and sepulut sub district. You make forest journey video like National geographic.
  • Forest expeditions excite me a lot. This episode will witness some very extraordinary experiences.
  • @KyCandicee
Wow, Borneo is where my family is from! Thanks for exploring this beauty
  • Thank you for coming to Sabah and sharing your experience to the world.❤

Wise, you have a local guide with you. Don’t be like that SAS soldier in the past thinking he was skilled and experienced enough to go solo. He ended up having to be rescued by Malaysian soldier. Don’t underestimate the Borneo Jungle.
  • @davepsk7334
That is why Sabah Borneo are given the names like 'Land below the wind' & 'The lost World'. Maliau Basin is definately a lost world. You'd think you are lost somewhere in Jurrasic Park guys. As for the Tiger fish, yes some parts do have them. Although not as much documented as the African Tiger fish, I think it may just be as deadly. You are lucky to have a real life Rambo as your guide.

Borneo island has its own unique eco systems. Case in point: they found a species of leech, the Kinabalu giant red leech (Mimobdella buettikoferi), that dined on Kinabalu giant earthworm, Pheretima darnleiensis near Mountain Kinabalu, the highest mountain on the island.
  • That forest looks so beautiful - you captured it so well. Borneo is such a beautiful island, we're super jealous, but you've made us want to go visit it ourselves now!
  • You are a legend.. I'm photographer from Malaysia and I never know about the existence of this place. Although it's not that surprising for me, it is still a very interesting place to add to my list. Thank you for exploring my beautiful country.

OMG. I just stumble to your youtube channel and subscribed already. I fell in love with the way you write all the species name and the information about them. I lived in Borneo for 5 years and i've only went jungle hiking in the Danum Valley once. I'm so glad seeing this again. I miss Sabah. Will go there again in the future. I really want to go inside the Maliau Basin but haven't find my chance yet. Manifesting it for the near future.
