This Audi S5 was a real pleasure to drive. So much power in a car that looks fairly 'normal' in todays market. You can pick up one of these for less than £10k - for a V8! It is now definitely on my radar to pick one up in the future.

Cars arent unique like this one anymore. Turbo 4 all over the place, boring automatic gearboxes, dull, generic designs, tablets all across the dash... urghh! Where is the driving? What happened to sheer driving pleasure! Epic video you made😂😂

Love the review Lucy! I purchased a manual 2009 S5 with the marvelous 4.2L V8 about 2 months ago and it’s been absolutely wonderful so far!! I daily drive it and enjoy every moment of it. You earned a sub from me! Love from the u.s.
  • Probably one the best looking Audi ever produced, the design of the car has aged so well with time. Completely agree with being the golden era cars where you get the best of both world, on one hand cars that have characters with wide choice of engine and the other one enough tech to keep you happy. Also the quality of materials used in those cars is way better than the cars of today

Lucy, I just loved your mention on manual gearbox! Really a true car enthusiast! Masterpiece video!
  • The design of the S5 has aged very well and doesn't look dated. I'm still driving a 1993 Audi 80 that I bought in 2007, it has held up very well😀.

Great video Lucy, glad you enjoyed it 🤙

Thanks! Hearing you talk about machinery is a treat. Perhaps introduce other machinery on the channel, too? Modern, classic and historic cars, planes, trains, marine vehicles, farm vehicles, manufacturing machines (CNC, 3D printer, computers), other machines (bicycles, motor bikes, type writer, sewing machine) etc. It's endless. Down to their parts. Big kudos to your hubbie, too. You are such a nice team together. 👏

This was a golden era for cars, comfortable with all the tech you need. It makes me sad that this is 15 years old, I remember when these first came out and thinking what a great looking thing it was. Shame that no one even buys cars like this anymore, everything has to be crossover.

Brilliant review Lucy, I have the s5 v6 supercharged version and absolutely love it, running at 400 bhp, love the sound of the v8, but chose the cheaper road tax, have a great new year, loved your review on this car, excellent, 😊 oh 7 speed auto, I'm idle lol,
  • I own an '09 A5 S-Line. In that year, they used the 3.2 naturally aspirated V6, instead of the 2.0 turbo I4 of the later years. Mine has a six-speed manual transmission, and thanks to the S-Line package, improved suspension over the base A5. It is absolutely my favorite car I have ever owned, and now has a little over 190,000 miles on it. The absence of that beautiful V8 aside, it is a VERY similar car to the one reviewed here. I absolutely agree that this was a great age for cars in general, and maybe for Audis in particular. I receive compliments on my car frequently, and everyone is surprised to learn how old it is! This includes the occasional police officer... As it happens, I drive with a little bit of enthusiasm sometimes. Last time I got pulled over, though, the officer let me off with a warning and a compliment for the car! Great review. You've only made me want to move up from my A5 even more. Worth adding... in that first live-action Hitman movie, there is a scene where Agent 47 drives a silver S5, and he has a girl in the trunk (or, boot). So, it's a Hollywood-approved transportation option!

Great review on Great German Engineering. You have a beautiful personality. I love the red nail polish.. Keep up amazing content!

Looks amazing, sounds amazing. Only thing that put me off getting one was the offset pedals which I found uncomfortable after a while. BMW E92 335i, whilst not as good aurally, was a better drive. As always, love the video Lucy, looking forward to the next one.

Climbing in the boot got the sub lol, well done, good video, you've convinced me, I'm getting one. All the best for 2024 from Manchester.

    Very good review!👍🙂 In a couple of days I'm purchase a S5 V8 with a manual gearbox😍🏁
  • great video! i have this exact spec car but with cream head liner and pilars, i love this car and its my daily, i think its the best value manual v8 around at the moment. mine has wheel spacers and custom exhaust with box deletes, its loud AF haha. i love it. they will go up in value over the next few years. its my third car but still gets used all the time lol.
  • @Ric13isme
I have a stock 2009 in silver with manual box and 60,000 miles Love it. Unlike the RS5 which is raw all the time, this you can drive slow or fast and enjoy. Love the vid ❤

Subscribed due to the fact that you are a car enthusiast that you got into the “boot”, trunk in the states but I’m impressed

I honestly think car design peaked in the late 00's to early 10's. They're new enough to either have all the tech you need or can easily be upgraded with modern systems, cars looked great and age really well, especially a lot of Audi's from this time such as the S5 (and Mk 2 TT), they are really practical and weren't hugely heavy, so that 350bhp goes a LONG way, that is still quick by 2024 standards. I own a V8 2+2 GT and the S5 is one of the few that ticks all the same boxes as mine; practical, spacious, surprisingly good on fuel when cruising but still genuinely fast when you want it to be. My only criticism of the S5 is that the styling is so subtle it doesn't differentiate enough from standard A5's. I wouldn't want huge bonnet bulges or silly wings or massive side skirts, but just be a little bit sharper. And even then, it's only a minor criticism because a sleeper-car is a very cool thing.

Nice review. But you forgot to mention some of the major costs which is the reason they are so cheap. Anything related to the engine like timing chain/ pumps is an engine out job and at least 4 grand. not cheap to run at all
