I just wanna throw out there that in the manga Kite and gon had a whole character building arc but it was skipped in the anime. That’s why it seems like they weren’t that close.

Akaza was NOT trying to kill Rengoku.. Gyutaro was trying to kill Uzui from jump. Then uzui was fighting poisoned the entire fight. Note: uzui is the Hashira with the best poison resistance. So if Rengoku was poisoned as well he would not have lasted. It’s already stated that each upper moon is equivalent to 3 hashira

In the anime they don't portray the relationship with Gon and Kite nearly as much but in the manga Kite played a way bigger role in Gon's life which is why he had such a big reaction

About y'all saying that Kite was not that important to Gon, that's actually the fault of the anime because in the manga and 1999, Kite is literally one of the first characters we meet. He's the one to let Gon know that Ging is still alive and about what Hunters are, which fascinated Gon. Throughout the series, Gon will remember Kite and about how important he is to him. When he did return in the Chimera Ant arc, unlike the anime where Gon had no idea who it was, in the manga Gon IMMEDIATELY recognized Kite and reconnected with him. Kite is basically to Gon what Shanks is to Luffy. So I don't blame you for thinking that Kite was unimportant

Nothing Was The Same is amazing. Take Care boosted Drake into the limelight but hasn't aged super well. I love both albums but I would go NWTS.
