Destiny 2's Lore & Story have taken a wild turn. At the heart of the Imbaru Engine, we found an uncorrupted Ahamkara egg. The next season, the season of the Wish has just been revealed as a result. The 15th wish is finally coming into play, and one of Destiny's longest-running mysteries surrounding Riven, The Ahamkara, and the Wish Dragons is coming into the forefront. Today I wanted to explain everything of relevance to the next season of Destiny.

The Wish Wall allows for over four septillion combinations. That’s a four followed by 24 zeroes.
  • Bungie casually played the LONGEST game ever. 4 years. We finally have it. The 15th wish. What I’m the most happy about is that the guardian noticed it. WE did some active investigating. WE canonically got the answer. We didn’t consult anyone like the Drifter, ahsa, Elsie, Ikora. WE, found the last puzzle piece. Our guardian actually does searching instead of once again just being the juggernaut that busts down the doors of hive gods. Savathun was right. She did already give us what we needed. No lies, no tricks.

Fun Fact. Every time Savathun talked this season you can hear in background the same heart beats. Neat little detail.

I like how canonicaly our Guardian saw a pattern in Savathuns wings and went on like a 4/5 week conspiracy binge on how to solve it.
  • Guardians: The Witness has gone through the Portal in the Traveler and we have no way to follow it. Savathun: Can I offer you a nice egg in this trying time?

If you’re still not sure how dangerous the ahamkara are, look at Eris’ reaction to us finding the egg. Her first thought is telling us to get out of the spire. Then, listen to her shock when Ikora suggests keeping the egg. I have never heard Eris sound so caught off guard than in the way she said “what?” She then tells Ikora that her idea is reckless. The woman who turned herself into a hive god this season thinks that dealing with an ahamkara is too dangerous!

My biggest takeaway is that it seems like the word for a baby ahamkara is "Whim," which I find delightful.
  • Destiny revealing the next season at the end of the story of the current season rather than a few days prior to the new season is honestly a much better way at revealing what is coming than they've done before. If this was in planning since the Wish Wall, I must applaud them. I have honestly enjoyed SotW and this has gotten me very much invested in what is to come.
  • I hope Lord Shaxx is involved with next season's story, given his ties to the Great Hunt. Such a legendary character and they never do anything good with him.

Not gonna lie, when the Dreaming City’s theme played when I opened the puzzle door and I saw it, I got literal shivers down my spine
  • I honestly think this egg is Savathûn’s way of taking us out after we deal with The Witness for her. I always thought her just leaving Immarû with the Vanguard was a bit suspicious. Like she’s never one to surrender an advantage without taking one herself…

I was audibly hyped after seeing that cutscene. I also always thought that "the last KNOWN Ahamkara" was a suspicious way to refer to Riven. This could also potentially FINALLY lead to the end of the curse on the dreaming city, canonically at least

8:16 Heirloom feels like an incredibly specific term that will carry a lot of weight. Savathûn is not one to choose her words carelessly.

I think the most interesting part about the cutscene is the actual notes our guardian made. Trying to follow the thought process leads to some interesting implications. Starting at the top left, we can see us trying to figure out the pattern. Above the main diagram of Savathun there is a sketch of her head as if we're trying to connect that to the pattern. To the right there are several hive runes being drawn over circles. We can see something similar in the bottom left of the right page. A rune drawn sideways over the wish wall implying these runes have some sort of connection to it. The diagram of Savathun herself seems to be us figuring out that it's a pattern connecting to the wishing wall. I'm not sure what the stuff on her right wing means, it could just be the normal pattern, but her left wing has the wishing wall coordinates, and judging by the arrow pointing to it we were trying to figure out what those glowing dots meant by connecting them into shapes. At the bottom left of the left page we can see what seems to be our process of discovering which wish runes need to be input. Notably they are the same as are being tried in the bottom right of the right page. Though the uwu snake rune is crossed out in the wish wall so perhaps that was an incorrect one. At the bottom of the left page is some kind of attempt at deciphering the hive runes, or connecting them to each other in some way. Unsure what this could mean. Above that though we have some more drawings of hive runes, including a 3D diorama of one of them, which is very strange. At the top of the right page there some more runic doodles. This seems to be how we came to the conclusion of the wish wall as we seem to be trying to fit the pattern into a grid. Some more runes are drawn on there sides here. Then we have a sized up diagram of Savathun's left wing, with the wishing wall pattern. Unsure if there's a specific reason for separating it from the main diagram or if this was just to keep notes on the same page. There is an arrow pointing down from that diagram to what seems to be our interpretation of the 15th wish. There are some lines connecting some of the circles, which could be unimportant but is interesting to note. There are several crossed out symbols, they do include the wish runes from the left page, but they are not in the pattern configuration which is strange. Notably the interpretation seems to be diving bird in slot 3, soaring bird in slot 10, left shoulder bird in slot 11. And double-headed snake in slot 19. Finally in the bottom left of the right page there are more hive runes including what seems to be us trying to connect one of them to the wishing wall pattern. The rune is drawn on it's side, not sure if this is because this is the only way we could get it to fit or if there's any other meaning to that. Another thing I did notice is that some of the hive runes are drawn mirrored for some reason. In conclusion: Our guardian did some hardcore theorycrafting similar to how some of us solved the last Imbaru puzzle which is hilarious. It's entirely possible these notes are just random bits and pieces that imply the 15th wish. But it's also possible that the actual solution is written right there. If anyone can figure out how we got those specific 5 wish runes in the bottom left, that is the main missing link here. This one short cutscene is full of fascinating information and implications. Really cool attention to details here, even if it doesn't actually mean anything.

I love the fact that our Guardian is the one who solves the mystery. It shows that we are not some bumbling fool (usually) whose just here to shoot stuff but instead someone whose clever and can notice even the smallest of details.

A solid, well themed puzzle and bringing in one of the biggest mysteries of D2. Alright Bungie, I'll give you credit where it's due, I think this is pretty good. Props to you.
  • Em: this is reckless Ir: im following your example Em: welp shit you got me there

The Wall of Wishes has a total of just over 4 septillion (or 4 with 24 zeroes after) possible combinations. Only way to discover the correct pattern for the 15th wish is brute force (that is without external help, which Savathûn ultimately (though subtly) provided), and even if we could perform one combination every second (which is totally unrealistic), it would still take over a quadrillion years just to go through 1% of all possible combinations.
