I love how he kept using "If I only die once", until the last lyrics Ryan turned it into "If I only live once". To me it feels like the person had always been negative, until the last moment he turned optimistic because he has "found something he need".

I think I understand this video: The dog represents fear.  The guy is afraid of having a relationship with someone.  So when an opportunity comes for the guy he always ends up getting afraid and running away from the opportunity (This is when the dog is attacking him).  So around the end of the video the guy is in a coffin.  I think this represents that the guy thinks he is done.  He will never be able to be in a relationship because of his fear.  Then the dog attacks while he is still in the coffin, so the fear is still gripping him.  Then the woman shows up and she also has a dog.  But it's on a leash and not attacking her.  She has the fear, but she is able to control it.  Basically, everyone has the fear, but you just have to learn to control it.

This song is supposed to be to the love of your life but I relate this to myself. This is a song full of hope and struggle at the same time. We all have demons in ourselves, fears, and dark past, but we gotta believe that we are stronger than our fears. We must not listen from the negativity for it will eat us. We only live once, so we need to live the life we want, for nothing or no one is always there for us. We can wish for someone to be there to pick us up everytime we fall but at the end of the day it’s only ourselves who can help us to be stronger.
