  • I’m a retired US Air Traffic Controller…. ATC is hands-down the BEST career… IF you can handle the stress & shift work. I spent over 30 years cramming 10# of airplane into a 5# airport. There’s no greater satisfaction when the rush is (temporarily) over and no one had to hold and they all landed with minimum separation. There’s a pretty good movie about ATC called Pushing Tin. Some of it is kind of goofy, but they did a pretty good job of showing how we think in 3D and the competition between controllers about filling holes. I was told many times that “That’s not a hole” and my retort was always “Wanna bet!” 😊
  • I have 13 years of experience as a FIS specialist, flight information service, with several ICAO courses and certifications, in the Dominican Republic, what would I have to do to go to Canada to pursue my career.

I have a computer science degree and atc is totally related to what you learned from your degree. I would honestly say “I love to make more money” rather then I like to be part of computer science😂.

So, good with dogs and strange cultured colleagues, but fck all about the professional requirements that one would hope would be enormously strict!

except you have be a diverse immigrant (no canadians welcome at all) and be able to speak a language that is NOT English that is used universally around the world in piloting and aviation.
  • Hilarious that she didnt actually say what qualities or skill sets you need to be a controller. As a retired controller I can tell you it takes a certain personality type. She does not have it
