Replacing a Head Gasket can be difficult and expensive. Sometimes your car is not worth fixing and this is where a head gasket sealer in a bottle comes in handy. Do these head gasket sealers actually work? How long do they last? How do they work? What does a bad head gasket look like? Do head gasket sealers clog radiators?

In this video I show you how to use a head gasket sealer to repair the head gasket and test it for 2yrs and 10,000 miles. I then tear down the engine and show you how the headgasket failed, how the sealer worked, and if the radiator got clogged up with sealer.

So it was brought to my attention that my house phone number is on the oil analysis sheet. I am waiting for YouTube to blur it so in the meantime, please dont call it...
  • @Airdown
Now lets get a round of applause for the commitment Chris puts into this channel. I know for sure I wouldn't put 2 years into a single video
  • "I don't know who else would do a 2 year test" Project Farm
  • I used Blue Devil when my 97 Acura TL 3.2L started overheating continuously. I dye tested it to confirm and it was my head gasket. I followed Blue Devil step by step. I also bought a brand new radiator and flushed the system with a water hose with the top radiator hose pushing it through it and with no thermostat with bottom hose disconnected. With that I started the vehicle as well to fully flush all the coolant out. Applied the BD and it worked. This was at 100k miles and I am at 190k miles after 10 years! No issues.

This is the first time I write a comment on YouTube and I’ve had this account for like 15 years. Simply because it has to be said that I’ve never seen any video that says explains the situation so clearly the way you just did. Respect
  • "Just to show you, I'm going to quickly disassemble the engine." Only ChrisFix would say that so nonchalantly.
  • If you are not the best, then you are one of the best who provide educational content regarding car repairs and diagnostics on YouTube, and you explain everything in detail, in addition to the fact that the filming of all your videos is clear. Thank you for all your efforts.
  • "We have about 5 million people in this community" Yep, this was filmed ages ago. Props to Chris!
  • The fact that you took video of the car in all 4 seasons is pretty amazing 👌
  • I have a 2013 Dodge Avenger R/T had the exact same problems as this car. No smoke billowing, no white milky substance in the engine cap, but the coolant reservoir reeked of Combustion gas. After $1,450 at the repair shop with no repair just money lost I was about to give up until I stumbled across this video. Followed the instructions to the Letter. Took a day or two and had to top off the reservoir a few times but afterwards no overheating, running smoother and stronger. Reservoir still smells of Combustion gas but it’s probably due to the old radiator fluid, gonna flush it and test it one last time. I really wanna thank you Chris Fix my only regret is that I didn’t come across this video before I spent $1,450 😅

Love how he went from 5 mil to 10 mil. Obviously it’s well deserved since no other mechanic is putting in this much effort. Top tier performance, im a subscriber for life!
  • @TimeBucks
appreciate all the effort he put into this video
  • This is what sets Chris apart. 2 YEARS to test a vehicle for a video. No one else does that. Thanks for another great video.
  • 10- 4 - 2023 I have had BLUE DEVIL IN MY CAR FOR FOR OVER 4 YEARS. AND MY HEADS ON BOTH SIDE WAS LEAKING BAD. I HAVE PUT OVER 14000 HARD DRIVING MILES ON... IT... AND STILL DRIVING IT EVER DAY .... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND BLUE DEVIL SEALER... I HAVE PUT IT IN THREE DIFFERENT VEHICLES. IT HAS WORKED GREAT FOR ME....
  • This is what I call integrity. Not trying to waste anyone’s time or buy curiosity views by hoping people’ll come back to “finally see the results of the plan talked about in the last video.”
  • Words cannot describe how much this guy actually cares. 2 YEARS he’s spent testing this. This is unheard of. Keep it up!
  • Damn 2 years, my guy is dedicated, round of applause Chris for doing this for so long.

For those watching this video years later I thought it might be helpful to know there is more than one Blue Devil head gasket sealer. I had a friend that used the smaller ( 16 oz ) bottle that's featured in the video and he didn't have any luck but I used the larger (1 quart)Blue Devil version and it did work for me. I highly recommend following the directions
  • Very good tutorial. I used Blue Devil in my 1998 Subaru Forester 2 years ago and I'm still driving it now, no problems. It had a bad head gasket. Can't believe how good Blue Devil works, and I highly recommend it.
