Thanks for watching! We are now preparing for the Northwest Passage this summer, sailing from Alaska to Greenland! I've just finished the project webpage: www.alluringarctic.com/ . The page will get updated as we go along. I will of course also be making a video series of the preparations and the passage itself. So stay tuned and bookmark the page to keep updated! :)

Bucket showers on the deck. Gives a whole new meaning to "shrinkage" lol.

Looks ideal to me. You should both be proud of the work you put into Lumi.

You to are an absolutely adorable couple and have created a beautiful home on the water. I think that the space is perfect, homey and functional all at the same time. May it provide the two of you years of memories. Never apologize for a little bit of clutter…. It’s just a sign of a full life. Thank you showing us your world. Sending you both love and respect from Idaho, USA 🥰🥰🥰

My fiance and I lived on a 27ft sailboat and for a while it was very cold. We would have snow on our boat and iced up portholes. We wore lots of layers, had a nice down bag to sleep in, took bucket showers, and drank instant coffee as well. Not that we did it for nearly as long as you guys have but it gave me such an appreciation for what you guys do and I find it awesome. Although I'm not a big fan of the cold myself, I find the lifestyle you guys have so fascinating and you're one of the main sailing channels I watch most frequently. ❤️

Your comment of “the whole boat is a frig” is hilarious. Brought flashbacks of the unheated attic I used as a bedroom during my college days in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Thanks for the interesting tour.

WOW 😮 Your boat looks great & so cozy😊 You two did a fantastic job on the rebuild & no one would think the before & after shots are the same boat. Enjoy your next sail. 👍🏻🙋🏼‍♀️🇺🇸

I wish I had the balls to take the leap and do what you do! You guys are inspiring. Be safe and well. Thank you guys.
  • I love the both of you BUT, you should always have a current chart and kee3p it updated for the time WEN the GPS will fail for some reason. I suggest have them laminated and used as a desk top. Just a suggetion from an old navigator.
  • I love hearing from you and watching your stories! You both are a good example of conservation, cleanliness, and order without which living happily in such a small space would be very difficult. Thanks for sharing this part of your lives with us. Murry from Salmon, Idaho.

Would love a video that focuses on provisioning, the kitchen, what is there now, what is working, what you have planned for the future, what you do for food storage, the length of time you provision for, what provisioning looks like in AK (where do you shop? will you use online purchases?), how you're thinking about provisioning for your Northwest Passage trip (will you go into Anchorage?). Thanks!

"The wire chaos of hell". I like it. I love watching your videos. Very peaceful, even including the wire area.

Sohvi and Juho: I remember your episode, inspecting Lumi in Napa, California and thought, "my goodness, I wonder who designed this spacious 44ft sailboat"? You both have turned her into a picture of function and one of a tidy, cozy Alaskan hideaway on the water. We love the carpet Sohvi designed on the cabin floor, the diesel heat, the galley arrangement, etc.. The aft dining room area with all the seating or Sohvi's space is awesome, truly a lovely area for inviting friends or relaxing with a good book. We haven't heard from you for a while and were concerned that the Alaskan winters had taken their toll. Wishing you a safe and beautiful passage through the Northwest Passage. Before Valdez opened up the Pipeline, Exxon ran an icebreaker bow Tanker through this passage, studying the feasibility of crude oil transport. I happened to have been the Third Mate on this passage and later ran the Valdez to Long Beach run with ARCO Marine, Inc.. We can't wait for your coming episodes and want to thank you both again for making us welcome in your cozy and comfortable Home.

Thanks for sharing and being a nice example for the younger sailing generation!

You look much happier without that critter on your head, you guys are neat. Enjoy watching!
  • @kindsailing
Great video! What a difference from when we saw you in the yard in Napa. I is so delightful and encouraging to see you making your plans come alive. Thank you! Namaste.🙏
  • @sahaapa
Instant coffee?!? As a fellow Finnish citizen I'll have to reconsider hitting that thumbs up button... 😁
  • Wellcome back, I was afraid something could go wrong as you have been absent for so long. Happy to see you again!
