To this day, any time Dom pops up on my GTA Online phone, I just hit "Deny" and carry on with what I'm doing.

"It's unclear as to what actually happened here; did he intend to die, or did he just forget his parachute?" I always interpreted it that Dom was so full of himself, and so frustrated that Franklin was outdoing him, that he decided he didn't need a parachute. His ego led him to believe he could do a jump like that without the need for a chute, and that if he could jump off the dam without one, he'd finally be able to prove to no one in particular that he was better than Franklin.

I think it's obvious. It's Rufus. He's proving what a good boy he is traveling through time from Red Dead Redemption to help people only to realize that humanity is doomed.

Woof "A man is stuck in a tree?!"

I think about this quest regularly, and I only did it once, 10 years ago.

I wonder if Franklin ever lies awake at night. Thinking about this misadventure. Thinking about the dog and maybe just the supernatural in general. He probably thinks about that dog anytime he sees another one when hes alone with his thoughts.... As for Dom, i like to think his death jump was just a short sighted stunt for ultimate bliss. Rather than a regular suicide attempt. In his drug and adrenaline fried brain he thought he'd reach enlightenment in those brief few seconds before going splat.

It's pretty clear the dog is meant to be a reference to Lassie... Franklin starts off with "what's that?" Which is the classic catchphrase we all "know" people asked Lassie (no idea if that happened in the books and films, but we all "know" it happened).

Jesus, the “play god” picture was unexpectedly gnarly for a video game
  • @ColorfulDusk
You think Franklin ever sits down to think “What da dog doin’?”
  • @JacobVonRoker
a sad lonely man surviving a near death experience thru divine intervention only to turn himself into an adrenaline junkie is a pretty funny idea
  • 13:11 it says he didn't bring a parachute. so, either he went into the jump wanting to kill himself, or just assumed he could make it. I also don't think the dog is Dom's guardian angel; he might just be guarding or looking after that area in particular. It would make sense with the picture of the family that crashed their car. After the dog died in the same/nearby area, maybe his soul couldn't pass on because he felt he failed in his duty as the family's dog to protect them? So now the dog helps to protect and save others in deathly scenarios in the same area in order for him to move on? depressing though lol

I hope the ghost dog comes back in gta 6, having it be a reoccurring ghostly figure like the strange man in the red dead series, a guardian angel, who finds people to save people from certain death.

10:20 I think he was trying to prove that he didn’t need one, and that the jump wasn’t actually as dangerous as people believe. Essentially, he was trying to “outdo” Franklin and prove that he and only he has experienced the height of thrill and overcoming human instinct/fear. In his mind, he would jump into the river and find it was actually deeper than everyone thought or he would simply float on the surface so there was never any real danger at all. He was sadly - or perhaps not so sadly - mistaken.

11:20 My guess is that Franklin only recites the sentence spoken by the dog so that the player can understand, since at one point the dog says something, and franklin responds with a question regarding the statement and not the statement itself
  • one of the best feelings is when being tired and exhausted then fizhy uploads a 10+ video, i swear it's one of the best feelings ever
  • @KwayDragon
I’m so glad someone made a deep dive video about this, cuz every now and then I’m really sit there and think “Why can Franklin talk to a dog? Why Franklin? Where did the dog go?”
  • @johnfen4680
I believe there's a reference to the dog in a Mary Ann mission with Franklin. In the middle of the race between Mary and Franklin, they go through a jogging trail and a woman will ask Franklin if he's seen a dog on while jogging past him and Franklin says yes, possibly relating to this dog, but I'm not sure. Still a thought though
  • Franklin is a Disney princess...that's why he can speak to the dog.
