To fight stigma against addiction, the community at large must grow in levels of compassion, and understanding life circumstances that lead to people abusing drugs. Some clients in the show talk about sexual abuse as a lead cause to working in the streets through prostitution. Some talk about the trauma, such as witnessing loved ones being sexually abused or other forms of physical abuse. Stories also lead to recovery from substance addiction.

The show focuses on discussions with individuals who were once addicted to substances, and/ or have gone through homelessness. The individuals talk about the time they first used substances, family and social circumstances that led to addiction, as well the impact that addiction had on their lives. We also get to hear about recovery and treatment, plus stories on relapses. Some clients recovered through recovery houses, and others went through treatment centres.

The interviews vary from dealing and selling drugs, going into prostitution, working women and men, dropping out of school, mental health problems and how it leads to substance abuse. Psychiatry and psychology information.

I’m learning so much from Koffee With Kuda. I can’t wait for more episodes.
  • Something painful about just the thought of being “fourth generation alcoholic”. It’s almost like she had no hope of growing up without addiction. How many people believe their addiction was passed on from their lineage?
