This is how I grow green dust algae and biofilm in my shrimp tanks to increase my shrimplets survival rate. Baby shrimps need some algae and biofilm to feed on in order to survive and that's why it is important to have that in your aquarium!

This is just what I needed in order to grow more dust algae for my hillstream loaches and snails. I don't have any floating plants, but I do have dwarf lilies, some buce, and some guppy grass. The Guppy grass is taking over, so a trim is in order.

Does the ista premium soil leeches ammonia for cycling? And aslo what ph range for that soil when everything is settled?
  • @albertoc3279
Great video. I agree that the soil in a caridina tank is whats makes algae grow and the ecosystem alive. The last soil I used, SL Aqua, kept ph very low but it's so poor in nutrients that the tanks were very sterile and most baby shrimp didn't survive. Switching to Amazonia powder now and still cycling but lots of algae and microfauna on the walls already

Hi, how many times should I do a water change and about how much water should be removed each time before adding caridina shrimp?
  • @saler1423
If you follow Nico, then you know he changed his way, no more soil on the bottom, he uses inert gravell, and only changes the sock with the soil, no more vacuuming.
  • Thanks for the videos, they are very helpful. What kind of leds do you use? Waiting for the next video...
