Blacktail epoxy table workshop: www.blacktailstudio.com/the-epoxy-workshop

I offered to remake this table at no charge for a client who purchased a white resin table from me a couple years ago... and it turned yellow. Check out the video to learn what happened.

  • I love to see a company back up their products without hesitation or hassle. The smaller the business the more significant a no questions guarantee becomes. After all, bottom line is what's it all about. Your attitude is what we need more of in the USA. Kudos for being a responsible manufacturer (i.e. craftsman) AND a builder of beautiful high quality furniture.

Cam, that really is a stand up move after 2 years replacing the entire table and then getting a 10k sale from it. Your gifted and blessed sir. All the good vibes to you your family and new home and shop. Would definitely love to see a set of unique lamps for some odd reason hahaha

Cam, you're an awesome dude. I really appreciate the fact that you point out that more headache is saved by admitting, owning up to, and fixing your mistakes than by hiding, trying to pass the buck, making excuses, etc. A great role model for many young people these days, myself included.

Hey Cam, very cool of you to replace the yellowed table. My "home state" is Hawaii, so I know how hard the climate is on wood ... I made some Padauk pieces for my daughter, and had to be extra careful about warpage, and finish. That said, I live in Japan, and we have all the Hawaii humidity AND four seasons. I hope to experiment with some epoxy soon, so paying careful attention! Cheers,TG

Hey Cam, super cool that you got the second order by providing good customer service. Always amazed that some businesses can’t figure that out. Super descriptive adjectives, too!
  • @mvfx
Cam, I had absolutely no plans to make tables, now I can’t think of anything else! Your work must be very satisfying. It’s inspirational! Great show and love the commentary. Thanks
  • Cam, beautiful table and I love that you not only replaced a problem for free, but were blessed for it after. Thank you for the great content.
  • Cam, that round table is stunning, super fantastic job you did there and bravo for getting a second commission, obviously your customer recognized you going above and beyond and wanted to reward you.

Cam, besides being a highly talented artist and craftsman, you're a very effective instructor. Thank you!

Cam, I really appreciate your integrity in taking care of your client and your generosity for sharing your learnings with all of us. While I'm not a huge fan of live edge products, I do make them from time to time for friends and family, and I find your tips invaluable. Sending you good vibes from Toronto Canada 😉
  • Cam, that is a great table. Love how look after your clients so well. Good luck with the new shop. Can't wait to see how you set it out
  • I've been watching your videos for a couple of weeks. Sir I'm truly impressed with not only the products you build but also your integrity. Not everyone would be willing to show their mistakes. As you said in one of your videos " A real woodworker knows how to fix their mistakes ". Hats off to you.

Cam, the large router bit is likely M42 high-speed steel, a common grade of tool steel. Carbide is definitely harder, but I wouldn’t worry about that too much for woodworking. If your router is undersized for that bit you should be able to hear the motor bog down. Enjoyed the video!

Great work as always! Thanks for naming and shaming the courier company. I hope you received a full discount on the shipping. Furthermore, it was very generous of you to offer a completely new table as a replacement for the one that was yellowed. Although I didn't see many pictures of the yellowed table, I believe that it would probably still be quite attractive and there would be quite a few people who would want to buy it.
  • Love watching your work, not a woodworker, but appreciated the work and what it takes to create beautiful furniture and so good to see beautiful trees get a second life.
  • Beautiful work, Cam. Even with all that you show in the process. Unless you've done this yourself, people can't fathom the amount of work you are putting into these tables. Your detail and finish work is impeccable. Well done and these tables should be still looking amazing for decades to come.
  • @guybareli6982
Cam, great table! I think you should use locktite on your furniture screws going in the threaded inserts, it will keep them in that snug position allowing the side to side movement but will prevent them from loosening over time... Just a suggestion, love your videos
  • @eddiekamin
Did you ever find out why it yellowed? Would you recommend staying away from white, or light, pigmented additives to epoxy? I am trying to avoid the same issues. BTW, absolutely the best customer service on your part. Love your work.
  • @kepler186f4
I'm not a wood worker, but I do enjoy your videos, it is a definite pleasure watching an artisan creating his pieces... it is almost Zen in action. Thank you Cam!
