Lyrics:

DTG:
I’ve got a record player
That was made in 2014
Died my hair blue
It came out a seasick sort of green
I like vintage dresses when they fall
Just below my knees
I pretend I scrape them
Climbing in the trees

AJR:
I’m in an elevator
It’s going
DTG & AJR: (down down down)
AJR:
I’ve spent forever with my feet on the ground
But not now
Cause I don’t wanna do the wrong thing
Guess I gotta go and get famous for doing nothing

DTG: dadadada
AJR: Crack a smile crack a smile
DTG: dadadada
AJR: Stay awhile stay awhile
DTG: dadadada
AJR: Am I holding for applause
Is it gone
Is this on?

DTG:
I’ve got a record player
That was made in 2014
Died my hair blue
It came out a seasick sort of green
I like vintage dresses when they fall
Just below my knees
I pretend I scrape them
Climbing in the trees

AJR:
I’m in a simulator
I’m doing
DTG and AJR:
(a-okay)
AJR:
But every day is just
Rewind and replay
Not today
I’ll head out to Monterey
Throw my phone into the waves
Can you see it in my eyes
Am I finally awake
DTG & AJR: dadada
DTG: Crack a smile crack a smile
DTG & AJR: dadada
DTG:Stay a while stay a while
AJR:
I think the best is yet to come
So drink up
And good luck

DTG:

Died my hair blue
It came out a seasick sort of green
I like vintage dresses when they fall
Just below my knees

DTG:
Sometimes I think
All I’m ever doing
Is trying to convince myself I’m alive
Trying to convince myself I'm climbing in the trees

  • @yikes.
This came out of nowhere but i’m all here for it
  • @izyaliok
My applause to the director. can't imagine how hard it was to combine all that crazy animations with live-action actors
  • Man, I heard this song once, and today out of nowhere, it was stuck in my head all day. I remembered it word for word. The beat is so hypnotic you can't help but sing to it. This is probably my twelfth time coming back to this song today, and I still can't get enough. They really did a good job with this one. I love this band!
  • I’m always impressed with these kind of animations. There is SO much going on, must of taken forever. What came first? The animation or the green screening?
  • @scullyfox8845
This is the most upbeat yet soothing song I have ever found.
  • ajr and daisy the great really just dropped this total BANGER with almost zero warning
  • There voices are heavenly, I’m so glad I found this song, plus the rhyme scheme combined with the meaning makes this song amazing
  • I luv how AJR targets talented people who doesn't get that much attraction to collab with, I say this with the singers, the animators, and the directors. Truly madlads for giving them attention, and their work surely did get what it deserves, love this :>

Everybody's talking abt how awesome the song is, but can we just talk about how creative and awesome the actual video is? 🤩
  • I never even heard of 'Daisy The Great' but after listening to this, its like these two girls are in amazing synchronization and that is impossible. Its like they are the best Chorus'ers. About AJR, they are like always, up to mark and always mesmerizing
  • @beratahmetaj
ive never heard of Daisy The Great, but her voice and flow is ON POINT in this song, her part is legit stuck in my head all day
  • I really like how Ajr introduces new, smaller artists by making collab music with them. It really shows how ajr is helping small artists became a little more well-known in the music industry.
  • @thadawerk
I was surprised to see the chorus came from a song done back in 2017. However, in this song, it has a very different feel. Extremely catchy and it is what hooks you in. When I first heard the song, I was in the car with radio turned down low. When I heard the chorus, I had to turn it up. Cool song.
  • @ThickNot
The "its going down down down" and the ""im doing a-ok"" was such a nice lyric rewrite for the same melody for sure my favorite parts of the song
  • @reset8571
I absolutely loved the 0:55 when Jack asks "is this on?" I instanly got flashbacks from their old videos, where Jack used to ask the same question in the beggining of the video lol
  • @brickwildcat
As much as I love Sober Up and I'm Not Famous this has to be AJR's most interesting music video visually. DTG killed it too!
  • @MagicMason1000
1:59 I've listened to this song so many times and just barely realized that the "Sometimes all I'm ever doing is trying to convince myself I'm alive" is in the background before the lyrics actually come up prominently, and I think that's really cool.
  • I can't get over the reverb effect that happens when DTG says green in seasick sorta green. AJR and DTG killed it. Also the vid and ending are sick.
