First time watching Attack on Titan reaction OVA No Regrets part 1 & 2 (Sub)

Here is what Erwin said to Levi in the manga: “Who was it who killed my subordinates? Killed your friends? Was it me? Or was it you? […] It’s the titans! Where did they come from? Why do they exist? Why do they kill humans? I don’t have the answers. None of us do. Limited by our ignorance, we’ll continue to be devoured by the titans! If we just stay shut behind the walls, we are never going to escape this nightmare. Take a good look around you! No matter how far you go, there aren’t any walls here. In this open space, I believe there is something there, illuminating our despair. But there are those who seek to prevent us from venturing beyond the walls. They are consumed by selfish thoughts of their own losses and gains from behind the walls where they are safe! It’s only natural. During the past 100 years, hindered by the walls, the eyes of humanity have been clouded. They cannot see the landscape that lies on the other side. But what about you, Levi? I think it’s important to recognize how deep Levi’s character is, he looks stoic and unbothered but he’s easily one of the most emotional in the show. He doesn’t want people to die more than anyone probably that’s why he says to them “if I can’t do it, drop it” he knows he’s the strongest and it burdens him because he has to watch people die. I love his and Erwin’s dynamic, Levi understands that Erwin can see things that he can’t and trusts him completely, for me, he’s the definition of a true soldier

“I don’t know the answer to that. I never have. Whether I trusted myself or the choices of my dependable comrades, there was no telling how things would turn out. So, just do the best you can and choose whichever you’ll regret the least.” - LEVI

Poor my Man, Levi, he lost everyone, his best friends / families: Isabel and Farlan, lost his squad, RIP Isabel, RIP Farlan, RIP Petra and all Levi's Squad

The thing with "aniki", there aren't many different ways of saying "brother" in English, but in Japanese there are so many ways to say "brother" and you can understand the relationship between them just by hearing how they say the word "brother". In this example, Isabel looking up to Levi with full respect; when it is translated as just "bro" you can't see that relationship, thinking they are equal but they definetely not. And that's why I support the idea of explaining the word the first time we hear, but leaving in the subtitles as it is as "aniki". I support the same idea for "-san, -sama, -kun, -chan, -dono" honorifics which tells a lot without explaining the relationship in details.

Levi, my man, just looks cold outside but actually he is very warm inside, he always cares about his friends, his comrades, that is why he is always my favourite character in AoT and also my role model in my daily life. Thank you for reacting to these amazing OVAs.

This is a good choice; gives some world-building and character back-story without spoiling the major plot line of the show. ETA: I'd skip all three of the "Lost Girls" trilogy of OVAs (two-part "Wall Sina, Goodbye" and "Cruel World") as well as "Ilse's Notebook" because of possible spoilers; at least get S2 behind you before you check them out. ETA again: I think "3-D Maneuver Gear" and "Omni-Directional Maneuver Gear" (or just ODM Gear) are just two ways of saying the same thing.

Poor Levi, he has experienced a lot of painful journeys and lost everyone around him, my baby Levi deserves all happiness in the world

I have no regrets watching this OVA because I learnt a lot about Levi as character, he is such a well-written character. As a manga reader I completely satisfied with his character, how he started his journey till the end, afterall he is an awesome character not only because of his strength (he is humanity strongest soldier) but also because of his personality (he always cares about his comrades and always thinks that each comrade's life is valuable). He is my beloved anime character. I love LEVI and always love Levi

When you realize why Levi manages to hold it all in during emotional realizations. Because he already lost those most important to him, that he viewed as family. The closest we might've gotten was Petra, and although his squad is important to him, he's already cried all his tears long before we were introduced to him.

I'm happy you watched Levis backstory. 😊 Levi is my favorite character in this anime. He looks like a cold hearted guy, but he is the most emotional person in this manga/ anime. You will learn more about him in the seasons. 👍 Now, I' ll watch Part II of your reaction. Greetings from Germany ✌

I love the subtal hints to levis demeanor in the normal show after his squad got killed by Annie. Levi shows his rage in this OVA. He's very vocally and visually pissed and his eyes change to have a glint of red. In the fight with Annie, it's subtle, but he also has that glint of red. He's been through so much after so many years in the Scouts that he can hide his visual rage... but his eyes can't hide the red glint, the pain of losing more close comrades. This show is all about details, damn i love it!

The expedition with Eren and others is the 57th expedition and Levi’s first expedition with Erwin was the 23rd expedition. If in 1 year, they have 4 expedition (based on what I heard they have around 3 - 4 expedition in a year, then we have around 8 - 11 years gap between the current expedition and this OVA expedition. That means Levi has been around with Erwin, Hange and Miche for quite a long time, so it is understandable that he got quite a higher rank as a Squad Captain. In the current episodes , I heard that Levi is currently in his early thirties, so in this OVA, Levi was still in his early twenties, he just doesn’t age, our short king looks almost the same, maybe because he is a cleanfreak, he has a good daily skincare that makes him always look young. Please correct me if I am wrong about this information
