Hey push yourself for the test and start driving yourself. The car is fine.

I would say that you have hit the nail on the head when it comes to the pros and cons of keeping a classic car without somewhere off road with shelter where a car can be kept and maintained. Classic cars are not to be used as a daily driver in my opinion, but generally, this would appear to be your intention, albeit that you still have not obtained a full driving licence. It is about time you put the horse before the cart (get your licence before getting another car). Being able to drive a car yourself legally on the public highway would increase your self-esteem tenfold, and focus your attention on what (classic) car you can afford and maintain on the roadside. I say go for it Sheldon, pass your driving test, prove that you are a real car enthusiast who wants to drive, instead of just cheering from the side lines.

And so it contiunes... Why buy stuff like this in the first place when you know you don't have the resources/facilities/skills/commitment to sort it. But, hey, whatever makes you happy

If only I had the money I'd love to have this car as it looks awesome

Good luck with the next steps once this is sold. Absolutely the right move.
  • Cam and lifters almost considered service items on rover v8, rest of motor is absolutely fine, no need for engine swap, nice original car at a very good price

“K -reg” cars were registered from August ‘71 - July ‘72…

I will take a look at it for you if you haven't sold it before we come down. May just be a case of small Adjustment on the Factory set fuel mixture screws . Normally leave alone but they can rattle loose. Also are the dash pots dry ? Need to be Quarter filled with engine oil combined with a light spray of WD40 .
  • Yeah its in remarkable good condition, its as good as "Matt Rs Furious driving" one. Maybe Paul and Jason, aka Mustard and Boaty might buy it 😄 Cats are so selfish. Hows your Mums SD1 down the road there going?
  • I wouldn't worry about the motor those Buick V8s are very tough, my old high compression 3500s motor was still going despite the fact 2 of the cam lobes were rounded, i would keep it ,after the disappointment of Kismet, this is a solid car, get rid of the SUs put in a Weber or Holley, thats just my thoughts, good luck either way.

Did you say there was a link below to the ebay and facebook page you have it on for sale?

Plenty of 3.9 litre ex Discovery engines knocking about. Ring around, an engine swap might be less the £2K. Much less if you already have the engine.
  • A very nice car, Hopefully you keep the video's coming. Best of luck with the sale.
