The premise of the game is that this moon is supposed to be barren and it's implied that humanity hasn't explored it yet. The fact that we see infrastructure and non-natural objects here only raises a lot more terrifying questions. And the way it's all depicted in the game is genius. Big props to the developer.

Disappointing there aren't any fun little secrets, surprised to see the map is entirely 3D rendered and that every photo is actually unique instead of a static image; gotta commend the extra length of effort there.
  • It is incredible that an experienced developer can just make an atmosphere out of low poly models, pre-made events, in-game custom camera rendering, particles and audio amazing work as expected from the developer of Dusk and Ultrakill unless he didn't work on Ultrakill specifically but still

This dude probably whipped this together in a month or two and now every detail of his work is being carefully combed over and watched by 15,000 people lol

I always thought the "cut in half chains" were some kind of worms or pipes considering the noise they made when you were near them. It's too bad there isn't anything extra to find, but it's understandable.

Just going to repeat what everyone else has said, but I am absolutely flabbergasted over how much Szymanski achieves with this titleand its simple design. Come to think of it, the achievement is really its simplicity - a simple premise done very well. Cudos to the man!

So basically, we are in a stationary object, and the panel is not moving the sub, but rather the camera that spawned in the map itself. Also, the map is not red blood lol
  • @Grasses0n
I like to imagine that all life in the universe was somehow teleported here in some bizarre way so that it tore them apart so finely, only the blood was left, so that is all the combined blood from all living creatures across the universe. However, the game did say that it was the fourth blood ocean they found so who knows? The pieces of buildings make me think that too. I kind of hope this is a prequel to another game he's making. It raised so many questions. Specifically, blood is organic matter, so WHO'S blood is it??

Lmao I expected the "fish" to be fully modeled but I realized it'll be useless since in the final(?) game all we will be seeing are just static images. [Edit] The creature is actually called "Frog" in the wiki.

Amazing how much creepiness was achieved with so little. Really well made little game
  • @Alomare
Now this is some interesting BTS. By looking at how a small game was made you can really learn a lot about the development process behind it. I want to make games in Unity myself so this is great
  • I absolutely love seeing horror games being dissected. It’s both incredibly insightful into the mindset of the developers and also helps take the chill off after playing the game and being scared shitless.
  • @Kabutoes
This game makes me think about our own oceans based on this quote from National Geographic: “The ocean covers more than 70 percent of Earth, and more than 80 percent of it remains unexplored.”
  • @atari4171
made the mistake of not playing this blind, and now I know everything. curiosity killed the cat, but it's still all very fascinating
  • This really makes me appreciate how much work was put into the camera mechanic - the giant skull looks as low-poly as everything else here, but in the picture you take of it in-game it looks like it could be a real deep-sea photo. Can we put Szymanski in charge of everything from now on?

This game is proof that talent and a good idea can make gold out of anything. I think a lot of first-time indie developers have the instinct to try to make their huge dream game right from the start, but that sort of thinking pretty much inevitably leads to burnout or failure. Iron Lung shows that if you focus on good design, you don't need a big budget to make a great game. I think that's really inspiring.
  • Based on the game story Stars and planets have disappeared, and then all the sudden a moon with a sea of blood appeared, this makes me think that they didn't just vanish, they were teleported, the void thing is a space-time wormhole, one of many i presume, it's the one that pumped blood into the moon, arguably the blood of all living creatures that died on planets which were sucked into similar "Void holes", Truly terrifying.
