Sydney Trains Vlog 2226: Wiley Park - The End of the T3 Bankstown Line Series

I went to Vivid from Cabramatta via the Bankstown line a few times/ nice to experience it before it closes to Metro - thanks for these historical videos 😊

Something Sydney should be complimented for is the keeping of heritage aspects in new projects. You soon realise how little heritage aspects are kept in other Australian cities. Even the colour schemes of stations are well thought with these assets - as well as accessibility adjustments required to be compliant on an operational railway. It is 10 times easier to knock down and rebuild. But these assets have a new lease on life for decades to come.

Hi Phil, interesting that you are doing Wiley Park, as that was on my mind since watching your previous video in this series. i passed this station many times, though i have no memory of ever getting off here from the train. i wish the lifts had been on all these stations when we were living in Sydney. They certainly make a big improvement. I am looking forward to when you visit Campsie station. Anyway, all the very best. Rob in Melbourne Australia.

The funny thing is that I've passed by Wiley Park this morning, and I'm one suburb away from it.

On the poles at the end of the platform.. suspect they will be removed and that section fenced off.. No new drainage or gap fillers installed in that area, so suspect two car lengths chopped off. Indeed given that platform is almost perfectly straight it's a wonder they need the gap fillers.

I attended the girls school right across the street from the station. We were spoiled by having a train station at our doorstep, but having the metro there could very well make it even better. Wiley Park, Canterbury Girls and Canterbury Boys are probably the biggest users of each station. The stations are so close to the schools and they attract huge crowds during peak. The DD's were very often packed to the brim. Although, I'm afraid it'll be really unlucky for students who live beyond Bankstown. I knew plenty of people in school that had to go to change at Birrong or beyond to go to and from home. The Metro will make their travel more difficult. In terms of station upgrades, love it! and I love how much more accessible it is compared to when I attended school in 2015/16. Although, I wish they installed more shelter. Every time It rained, it was an unfortunate situation because people would huddle and squeeze into the limited amount of shelter and even fight over it. Otherwise you'd just be stuck in the pouring rain.

I’ll say it again, I miss Sydney Public Transport(Warts n all). Come to a regional area with virtually NO PT.

So actually when is this line closing?

Why did the Government make they Sydney Metro go to Bankstown I have never been on the Bankstown line but I might go on it when the Southwest metro line from Sydham to Bankstown line opens
