( www.alltfl.com/ ) Check out our new spot to find ALL our content, from news to videos and our podcasts! While some folks just have to have the greatest in terms of range, technology and performance (in EV parlance, a Tesla), some folks just don't want to pick up a Model 3 or a Model Y for whatever reason. But what other options are out there? In this head-to-head comparison, Tommy looks at two alternatives we have at our base this week: the Toyota bZ4X and the Nissan Ariya!

It's not all about Elon, some of us also think their interiors (especially the 3 and Y) feel chincy and hate the minimalist crap that only helps the company.

"Dealerships competing to lower prices" is like when a store sells a $15 shirt for $25, but tells you it was originally $50 so that you think you're getting a discount. If they weren't upcharging, they wouldn't have a business model.

Just did BZ4X lease for wife. $119 a month using CT EV direct pay to dealer for down payment. We currently have Bolt EUV and this charges faster at all SOC.

I have an Ariya evolve + awd I got a smoking laser deal on. Tesla wasn’t even close! It’s so solid, if you haven’t actually driven one you have no room to comment. There are so many reasons I’d do it again compared to a model y right now.

get the Nissan if you must pick between these two. but there are much better options than both

Wife and I both leased some Ariya Evolve+ AWD last month. ~2000 down, 250/mo (10k miles/yr) with Colorado tax credit. You can get the Engage much cheaper, but still a pretty nice deal.

I think leasing makes way more sense right now. You get the $7500 tax credit because leases are considered commercial for whatever reason. That pretty much covers the lease payments for the 3 years.
  • Tommy is a great salesperson. After watching his videos, I think, "Man, I got to get one of those."
  • There was recently an article about the least expensive EV’s. It found that the Ariya was selling on average about 30% below MSRP. So a ~$51k Ariya is getting off the lot for closer to $40k. That’s a crazy good deal.

Still enjoying my purchase of a new 2023 Bolt EUV in Colorado for $14,000. No mileage limit, Apple CarPlay, physical buttons, 250/260 mile range, heated front seats and steering wheel. Slow fast charging, but my main commutes are less than 60 miles per day.
  • @theredmonkey
Leasing the Toyota for $129 in my area is pretty appealing. I already have an EV with actual fast charging.

Just leased a fed bz4x and could not be happier with it.
  • You guys are getting really good at your one. Take videos, Tommy, and Alex.🎉🎉❤❤
  • @lawdog516
Very eye opening, definitely an option for around town use, thanks Tommy

Between these two the Ariya is the clear winner. Consistent flat charging curve, nice interior with gauges you can actually see, hands free expressway driving with ProPilot 2.0, and (subjectively) better looking

I agree Tommy. But props to the detail guy on the Nissan! That paint looks amazing.

Nice video. I hate when they talk about how cheap these vehicles can be, but then show the top-of-the-line trims. Be consistent. Either show the lower-specced vehicles, or talk about the higher prices charged for the top-of-the-line trims.

Thank you, they are great for what they are. They aren't the best at road trips but they're so much better built than Teslas. I have heard of Model 3 seats falling apart within the first 3 years/50,000kms. I got an amazing deal on a Subaru Solterra. I love it, it feeds my driving needs and with all of Toyota's experience with Hybrids I expect to have it for the next 20+ years.
