Techniques: 1 - brain dump. For five minutes or so, just get all of your thoughts and feelings down. Don’t censor yourself. 2 - gratitude. Write down a few things you are grateful for - anything - they can be very ordinary. 3 - ask your higher self. Ask a question, and allow your higher self to answer through writing. 4 - bullet journaling - an organization method. No details provided, but she says it’s critical for her. 5 - expressive writing. Similar to the brain dump, perhaps the same thing. She mentions writing about difficult past experiences, with more intentionality to dig into the past. 6 - story worth moment. Each day captured by one line so you create a log that you can look back on significant happenings. 7 - goal setting and manifestation. You are far more likely to achieve your goals if you write them down. 8 - wheel of life. Rate all major areas of your life from 1-10. The categories are: Fun and recreation, physical environment, business/career, finances, personal growth, romance, family and friends, and health. 9 - holistic check-in. Write down how you are feeling, using “I feel” statements. 10 - weekly review. Review the past week, and plan on the upcoming week. Decide on a theme for the week, such as rest, and set a few goals. Tips: keep it minimal in the beginning; set a timer for five minutes; habit stacking with other practices like meditation; choose a beautiful journal and pen. Take action: Pick two things to get started, right now. Personal recommendations: rip apart and throw away your brain dumps and expressive writing, otherwise you will censor yourself in case someone finds it. Loose leaf paper is better than a journal for this. // For story worthy moments, shop for a five year journal. // Keep your journals next to your bed, and consider doing a sleep and dream journal. // Write down your wins at the end of the day.
  • It's 1 am in China, and I just finished journaling. It feels like I just had a therapy session with myself—haha! I'm feeling so calm and refreshed at the same time❤
  • @jonlamb2844
You can tell your higher self she helped at least one person. Well done and thank you.
  • @AnaA-ku2yt
They did a study that found its not just finding things to list to be grateful everyday, but to change them up so that you SPEND TIME REFLECTING on what to be grateful for.... it is the time reflecting, looking for, things to be grateful for that causes the improved mood, not simply listing what you ought to be grateful for. FEEL the gratitude... SEEK the things daily to be grateful for.
  • I just discovered this video today and I think I watched it 4 or 5 times. I love the way you expand so much beyond just basic writing style and habits. Thank you so much for sharing this. I will begin to put into practice some of these concepts and experiment with what works best for me. Wonderful video!

Hey, I just left the journal habit, but seeing this makes me want to get back to it! After watching this video, I noticed that I'm currently struggling with finding myself because I'm always changing and seeking a meaningful life. The fact that you mentioned capturing a moment is what I need right now. Thanks, Dr. Izzy!
  • @EFFong-yz5co
Great video, Izzy! Thank you for making it! I'm so glad you decided to make videos on YT because you're helping not just one person but thousands of people. I'm grateful for you. Would love to see a video on your bullet system. Thank you!

I am 58 years old and have attempted starting a journaling practice / habit many time over the years by purchasing beautiful journaling books. The books always ended up being gifted to a friend who has journaled her whole life. Two weeks ago I started journaling on my IPad and it seems to be a much easier / consistent way for me.
  • @juliaifrank
No matter what Dr. Izzy is talking about, it's a pleasure to listen to and watch. It is aesthetically pleasing and has a positive vibe, but it is also informative at the same time. Thank you!
  • Dear Izzy, I'm should give you a big Thank U for you and your channel, it helped me out from the dark months and made me try to start loving myself. I feel I have a chance to pursue a better life for me and for my family. You have a very charming and comfort accent, and also friendly words and grammar to understand even for such a bad English learner like me. The content, never doubted. I'm so happy to see you have over 580k subscribers for less than 100k. I cant wait to see more videos from you, it always not enough to see. best and have a good one. :yougotthis:

Writing things down makes such a significant impact on my mindfulness & intentionality!!! I’ve just started journaling this year, and it’s done me wonders so far. This was so informative, loved every second of the video, definitely applying the methods to my own routine!!! Thank you so much for sharing your tips & experience with us ❤
  • @thecaptain127
Thank you very much for your posting! It’s wonderful to wake up to a positive, uplifting message. As for your content, I find it precise and to the point! I often find myself journaling when I need to clear my mind or just put my thoughts in writing. I have since used Google drive to journal (it is easier to edit and I can share it with friends if I choose to). Anyway, I really respect what you’re doing to the online community which is to give positive, uplifting advice to others and hopefully improve their lives! You’re also an inspiration to many young people who aspire to become doctors! Thank you again for sharing.
  • I enjoyed your video as I do journaling myself. I had the same reasons why I did journaling as you mentioned on your video but lately as I’m nearing my retirement age, and “senior moments” often came. I find my journals a great help to remind of things, events & people who & which mattered to me. I really find writing my happy thing! Thanks for all the tips & ideas. May you continue your journey of journaling and I’m happy for you! 😊❤
  • @gracetyau5206
Literally one of the best YouTube videos I've ever watched, you are an angel!!!
  • This video helped me so much. I am starting today. We are so self critical of ourselves and journaling will put those thoughts in perspective. Thank you for this ❤
  • @rouakrimi
Thanks a lot for this super useful video, I already do many of those journaling methods, but I learned quite a few new things and loved your perspective on the ones I already do.
  • @nicolebrunet7022
I just found you today and 14 minutes in I’ve subscribed because I feel like you speak to me. Thank you for that. I would love a Bullet Journaling video from you. Yes, please.
  • @Ivemanifest
Journaling is my all time fave for transformations. I love looking back at my old journals sometimes and just completely blown away with the things I find.. like who was she lol. Love this. Thank you Dr. Izzy!
