This super blond guitar weighs just 6.60 lbs. and has a nice, fat nut width of 11/16 inches and a standard Gibson scale length of 24 3/4 inches. Three-ply laminated maple body, Honduras mahogany neck with a wonderful thick profile. Brazilian rosewood fretboard with 20 original small frets and inlaid pearl split-parallelogram position markers. Two P-90 pickups with outputs of 7.91k and 7.66k. Four controls (two volume, two tone) on lower treble bout plus three-way selector switch on upper bass bout. Apart from the inevitable lacquer finish checking this example is in near mint (9.25) condition. Housed in its original Gibson brown hardshell case with pink plush lining (8.50).

@frettedamericana It's how we like it too. Phil is the man, his demos are outrageous, and he is plenty relaxed - he just loves music and it shows. We love it too, so keep it up, Phil.

I like this guy. Manic energy and consummate chops. Good technical info about the instrument.

0:39 was the best showing off of a finish ever.

The sound he gets with the tonemaster and this guitar is fucking amazing! Almost like the holy grail of sound!

I believe that in the right hands that 175 would sound heavenly....instead of obnoxious. It's all in the hands, which are connnected to a consciousness....

@SeattleLA I always thought Steve Howe played a 1961 ES-175D with humbuckers. I could be mistaken but i think this might the case

If I had a vintage ES-175 under my bed, I would sleep so much better...

Great stuff! I have the '56 ES-175N, single P90, from the Chinery Collection, the one actually in History of the American Guitar. I'm not worthy. Never been able to rock it without big feedback. Jazz & Fun, though...it's a masterpiece.

@DougyKeithMusic duggie were you referring to Peter Noone from Herman's Hermits?
  • @richicious
I think AC/DC recorded almost all their on Gibon or Gretsch hollowbody guitars..... and just live they play solid bodies. I also believe hollowbodies like ES335 or some sound more edgy and like Rock and Roll when you play them "crunched".
