Indiana Jones 5 Is LucasFilm's Downfall

Published 2023-05-26
Indiana Jones 5 or Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny or whatever silly name you want to call it made it's way to the Cannes Film Festival last week, and boy were the results disastrous. The latest attempt by LucasFilm to destr-I mean "modernize" another franchise sends Harrison Ford's Indiana Jones on his final adventure. By the looks of it, seems like he'll be going out in shame seeing how the movie was so bad people were whispering out of boredom.

Modern critics were supposed to love Indiana Jones 5 because of Phoebe Waller-Bridge and her "comedy", not to mention the fact that she's most likely replacing Indiana Jones. To see that even they hate it means LucasFilm made a movie solely to shill to an audience that couldn't care less. That's a bad sign for any movie, but for one with a $300 million budget? Well, that spells box office dud in bright neon letters for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

What odd is that they think that most women want to watch a movie with a Strong Female Character and weak men. But in fact they would much prefer to watch a Strong attractive man that has to overcome challenges.

Disney Lucasfilm started its downfall after the credits rolled in Force Awakens

Its not that he's old. The story could deal with a brave guy, challenged by his physical limitations, digging deep, being heroic, and winning. Not this mess.
  • The studio executives not only don't understand what made these franchises successful, they don't care about it....

"Don't look at it, Marion. Shut your eyes. Don't look at Disney Lukelessfilm's Indy 5, no matter what happens." Letting KK oversee new Lucasfilm content is like letting Marcy D'Arcy be the showrunner of Psycho Dad.

There’s one thing I can be thankful for, with the Dial of Destiny reviews, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is no longer considered the worst Indy movie which is great because it was always a movie I enjoyed.
  • @NotNotJames
Really tragic that the Indiana Jones franchise is going down the same way Star Wars has. (Not counting the crystal skull but also Star Wars has spinoffs idk I can't think straight I'm crying rip Indiana Jones movies lol)

I think that it's ironic that just shy of 30 years ago, Disney was the gold standard for movies and TV, but now they can barely make a decent film anymore. Really shows how far they've fallen.

Nice video, good job! This movie will be a massive flop! I’m so sad how one of my childhood heroes gets destroyed in front of the eyes of the world. Disney will loose a lot of money hopefully with this piece of horse shit.

The goal isn't to make money, but to divide.
  • Five minutes ovation.... They're just happy it's finally over so they could leave right away.

This is why I keep saying that people from other states need to start making their own films—not part taking of Hollywood. Keep it independent base.

The sequels were the downfall. Star Wars and Willow on Disney+ were the dying. Galaxy's Edge was the death. The Dial of Destiny should be the nail in the coffin. Lucasfilm is creatively bankrupt. Kathleen Kennedy oversaw all of this, and is still employed!🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♂️

"Signals to virtue"? Well, Kathleen Kennedy gets everything ass-backwards, so... I see what you did there! Good commentary - expresses my (and many millions other's) feelings perfectly. [And maybe - I'm going to whisper this - maybe this will finally be the KK Killer!?!?)

This hit my feelings on the matter straight down the middle, right down to the "break the other kid's toy instead of finding or making my own" psychology that drives these wreckers of all that's good, right and successful, male and logical and brave. Oddly I had a dream last night where I presented a TV drama series proposal (things I once was paid to write professionally) to Kathleen Kennedy and she told me with irritation "this whole final section is wrong, it doesn't even make sense" and I cut across her saying "Those are future storyline suggestions for the episodes; you can't read them as if they're part of the pilot plot!" but she got up and left with disinterested contempt and I thought "I have a kinda British-sounding accent so perhaps I'll keep my job." Don't try to unpick that psychologically but it had to do with being condescended to by someone in great power who couldn't even read a script. Anyway, YOUR video is great and squarely on the money. I despair for the desecration of Star Wars, Willow, and especially Indiana, I really do 😢

Fear not, loyal fans. "Rome wasn't burnt to the ground within a day." ❤️

Aliens wasn't the problem with Indy 4 it was the many events and casting choices
  • @drizer4real
well, its a self defeating strategy of them, so we collectively ride it out until they go bankrupt, which at this rate of loosing money they will, and hopefully the next incarnation of a film company does better.
