LYRICS:

Some Things Never Change Gavin Dunne 2016

Withered wood and cracks in concrete faded
Lonely old leviathans corrode
Labyrinth of lights and life degraded
Vivid highways slump to riven roads

And ever and on we go
Never to learn or grow
Pillars of peace estranged
I guess some things never change
We fall, we fall again
Stare through empty window panes
We fall, we fall again
I guess some things never change...

Sterile soil will harden
Wasted world my garden

Beacons of the past on each horizon
Weary feet tread stories in the dust
Havens hard, no steel can crack the diamonds
Hope among the ruin and the rust

And ever and on we run
Purest of rains they come
Pillars of peace estranged
I guess some things never change
We fall, we fall again
Stare through empty window panes
We fall, we fall again
I guess some things never change...

Sterile soil will harden
Wasted world my garden

Never fail to get goosebumps from a Miracle of Sound song.

This actually does a better job of portraying the weight and reality of what has happened to the world in game better than the game ever does. Between constantly searching for better gear, exploring vaults, trying to survive and helping another GOD DAMN SETTLEMENT, it's easy to forget just how much the world was devastated, and the importance of holding onto hope and learning from the past for a better future.

Some things never change. For example, Gav always makes kickass music.

I like the other Fallout songs, but this one is definitely the best. This one is on a completely different level. It captures the spirit of the whole franchise so well. Basically, this song is Fallout.
  • Okay, this is some serious talent hiding behind those lyrics and voice. I've never seen the Commonwealth this way : a wasted world, another proof of human's most powerful light and darkness. And goddammit, that's huge. Thank you, seriously.

Oh gosh .... This song.. This song is just Fallout. The pain, the sacrifice, this is Fallout.
  • Somehow, you made a song that sounds emptied of glory, yet still full of life. I don't know how, but you have perfectly emulated the setting of Fallout.

Hope y'all enjoy the first song of 2016 :) It'll be on Itunes in 3-4 days! Don't forget my 2015 collection Level 6 is on sale now on Itunes, Bandcamp, Amazon etc: miracleofsound.bandcamp.com/ Thanks for all the support in 2015, big luv <3
  • See, the thing Bethesda brought to Fallout, that I don't feel in the older games, is a sense of atmosphere and wonder. This song perfectly captures that feeling. Great work Gavin.
  • Sometimes it's the worst moments in life that sees me back here. Strangely, that's when I really see; these songs are about more than gaming. You draw us in with your fancy thumbnails relating to this franchise or that game title, and instead teach us the ways of faith, perseverance, and hope in one's self. You're musics strangely relatable, and catchy enough for nearly anyone to remember it's lyrics--lyrics that'll keep resurfacing through thick and thin. Hope is something that people truly need, and this is one of its purest forms of delivery. Thanks for sharing. ~

My parents didn't sign my permission slip for this feels trip.
  • Re-watching this video reminds me that even though Bethesda may not have made the greatest quests or the most branching speech trees in this game, they crafted one heck of a world. Makes me want to get back out there and explore more of the Commonwealth.

Jesus, I've never seen Fallout this way. So emotional. So perfect. I've been a fan of the franchise for so long now, and it astonishes me I've never really seen fallout the way this guy portrays it, truly beautiful and terrifying. Fucking amazing, an enchanting song. "And ever and on we go, never to learn or grow. I guess somethings never change. We fall, we fall again."

In some ways, Fallout 4 is perhaps the most hopeful. This is is the first fallout game in full color, it has people actively building things up, and while the settlement system may have disappointed/frustrated people, you are actively building things up. You are building up a future. Your wanderings can be invested into homes and towns.
  • @Slavenmierech
After hearing your voice on jimquisition for the past 6 months I finally checked out your music, was not expecting this at all, genuinely moved and emotionally affected by this song, you have a new fan, amazing
  • @philiphunn194
Such a haunting tune - very in keeping with the bleak-yet-beautiful Commonwealth.
  • This song ages like fine wine. Every year it feels more prescient. Every news cycle feels like another step toward this cautionary tale becoming reality.
  • @RaisedtoSabbath
Sometimes it is truly comforting to know that we have fallen before. If we could pick ourselves up then, hell if we can't do it ever and on again.
  • @Mitcheck315
is the "purest of rains they come" a callback to "someday the rains will come and wash it all away"?
  • @guicaldo7164
The chord progression and melody in the chorus make this sound so much like an Aviators song
