Still one of the most original bands ever, always loved the combination of Cindy and Kates vocals.

The B52s were just fantastic. I use to party to this song back in the very early 80s. In fact, they were one of the few groups that could change the atmosphere in a club. WHen this or Rock Lobster came on, the entire club would dance together and sing the lyrics. It was "fantabulous"

Perfect song. The delivery, the lyrics, the music, the obsessive refrain, the hammering rhythm. It does describe paranoia.

This is my very favorite single song of theirs. It's perfect in every way. Pure New Wave and perfectly raw. Loved them at the time and Lene Lovich, Devo, Talking Heads, Pil , Psychedelic Furs, The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Eno era Bowie. Nina Hagen, Television, Japan and later Depeche Mode after my Childhood Beatles and early teen Zeppelin Floyd era. Great music, a second 60's. The 90's was the last interesting time musically. Still between Robyn with Röyksopp, Parliament Funkadelic, Elvis and J.S. Bach there is a lot of music to choose.

I've been in love with this band since I was a kid, living at the beach, hopped up on the influence of Wendy O. Williams, Roller Derby, and memories of Joey Heatherton. My God I love this band!! Never a disappointment. New Wave Heaven!! Kate and Cindy are beyond fab-oo!! I love 'em all.

fantastic band... they're still kickass live even in their 50s and 60s...

They made this song in honor of the Twilight Zone episode called "The Bewitchin' Pool" watch that episode. Listen to the part of the song where they say "Beware of the pool, blue bottomless pool it leads you straight through the gate that opens on the pool" and then they play the twight zone theme, they also say "Don't let the chlorine in your eyes blind you to the big surprise that's waitin' for you at the bottom of the bottomless blue blue blue pool" "It's a pool full of strangers" The kids in the movie escape to there own private Idaho.

I"ll never forget getting this album when it came out and playing this song for a very intellectual friend who was never amused by anything and who I had never heard laugh though I had known him for years. When it got to the part where Kate sings "...fell into the pool and went down to Idaho." he started cracking up and laughed to tears.
  • @martinaee
You have to listen to this over and over to really appreciate Kate Pierson's vocals in this... They are all so amazing.
  • @pjstrupp
One of the best dance tunes of the 80's. B-52s were the shit.
  • @porkasnork
Bee-lined to the dance floor every time I hear(or hear, still...) this one. Beautiful vocals, hard guitar, strong beat...........that all it takes!
  • @tnekkc
I was 31 when that came out in 1980 and i got the record. Some 20 year old kids were telling me they had some extended versions of the songs. Those kids are probably old grandparents by now.
  • @SammyRedemption
They performed this song in 2011 for the very first time in Idaho.
  • @MsZoedog66
One of my favourite songs ever 💗🌵
  • @Suppystar
My Dad was buddies with this guy who was obsessed with the B-52s before they got big. When Love Shack got huge, though, Dad's buddy just went up to him and said, "Told you they were good." I laughed, because when I met the guy, I gave him props and said that the B-52s will always be the best band EVER.

Haters will hate. How can anyone not "like" this awesome video (song) except for the fact that it is not in stereo and the video quality is so-so.
  • @dang8961
Such a quirky and awesome song. One of the greatest baselines I've ever heard
  • @jugend45
"You're out of control, the rivers that roll, you fell into the water and down to Idaho." Awesome line.
