Not sure how legit this is, but apparently this show is so popular in Japan that people started using "That´s what Himmel the Hero would have done!" as a kind of mantra.

Moral of Frieren: Just because you fulfill your quest doesn't mean the adventure ends.

The truly heartbreaking moment is, in episode 2, when Fern tells Frieren how she met Heiter: an orphan in a war torn country, trying to kill herself. It's also at that point that you realize, that Fern is so good at concealing her mana, because it's the first thing she tried to do on her own. In order to survive, she had to hide from demons, wich are skilled at mana control/ mana detection. Frieren is by far, the best anime of the last decade and one of the top 5 of all time.

Oh yes, you're really doing it 😊 This show is the most wholesome and beautiful thing I've seen in years, prepare for an awesome journey. Btw, all the characters names are german words, the ones so far: Frieren: to freeze, being cold Himmel: heaven, but also sky Heiter: cheerful or bright Eisen: iron Fern: distant, far away
  • You guys reacting to frieren now? Good luck, you'll need lots of tissue... 👍
  • I tried to visualize what Frieren saw and feels, suddenly... EVERYTHING BECOME SO SLOW. Everything feels like fleeting dream...I feel like the one who observes the whole universe. Not the one who lives in it. Saw first 2 episodes months ago, and I CRIED SO MUCH I don't even dare to watch the rest of the anime. 😭😭😭😭 And yeah, Himmel ALWAYS loves her, till the end of his life. Yet, she simply can't perceive it...

You definitely pronounced the name right, don't worry about it ❤ Good catch, Magy, this anime really gives off the feeling that "it's beginning from the end". You can already notice how Frieren sees the passing of time so different from her friends "It was a mere 10 years adventure". It really hits you as hard as possible from the first episode - seeing Himmel dying, Frieren's regrets over not knowing him better, Reiter's proposal and wise words for her - what a fantastic first episode. Your thoughts and impressions about the first episode have been so heartwarming to hear, can't wait to see what's coming next! "Time passes so fast here" - nobody could've said it better, Magy, well done! Seeing Reiter bedridden like that, the effect it has on both Frieren and Fern - it just hits you in the feelings over and over again. Himmel had such an impact on both Frieren and Reiter - it's beautiful, the little ways in which we're being shown that. Reiter tricking Frieren into training and taking Fern with her was incredibly heartwarming. Finally finding the blue moon weed and feeling like she honored Himmel's request - what a beautiful scene. This is an incredibly emotional anime and it's also satisfying at the same time. Thank you for starting this journey and for this amazin first reaction to it ❤

most common mistakes people do when watching this anime, including mine was expecting it to be like any other animes 😅 like when they go to the star viewing place I kept thinking "oh sht its not gonna go well, somethings gonna happen" nope, they arrived there no issues. "oh disagreement with fern and frieren, its gonna cause some issue" nope, they resolved it immediately.. This is not your typical story structure.

This anime is a piece of art. Soooo sensitive and so charming. We cry lot from beauty. Some moments are real sad but most of it is beauty and heartwarming.

You witness one of the best animes if its about fantasy and as topic "time". And im serious. One of the best. Everything, from Music till storytelling is PEAK. You beginning to love the charactere even you see 5 minutes of them. We, actually waited a long time to get finally this kind of Anime. Lifechanging. We need this Anime.

This is such a beautiful story. I still cry every time I watch. It's hard not to be moved.
  • @marlowe8851
Frieren took both apprentices of her former party members, she’s a good master/ teacher
  • @dandsan01
You don't know exactly why, but when you see old Himmel something inside you is like " this is gonna be sad 🥺 " Be ready for release a lot of feels and thoughts watching it : )

I just discovered you guys, and yeah because of Frieren. If you continue watching this show you'll see a wonderful, beautiful, life-changing journey. A couple things to help. The dates are now set to "after the death of Himmel the Hero" - always pay attention to that, as it sets ages and other critical time factors. As an example, Heiter and Himmel were probably in their teens to early twenties when they started their quest to defeat the deamon king. Add ten years and they came back in their upper twenties to early thirties. Skip to the next era meteor shower and add 50 years, so they were in their upper seventies to early eighties. Then start counting from there. Twenty years later she began Fern's training while Heiter was in his upper nineties to early 100s. Six years after that, Himmel had passed on, and a fifteen year-old Fern joined Frieren on her journeys - at twenty six years after the death of Himmel the Hero. So like I said, always watch those time markers, as they will be yourrefuge when questions of who and what and especially when become confusing. Almost every person, place, and monster name is in German, and gives a hint as to the nature of what is named. There's another reactor who is a native German speaker and produced a video discussing the translations from the first cour of season one. So once you've completed the first 16 episodes, I think you'll find it worth your time to set aside the three hours to watch it. He's really insightful. You two have some HIGH emotional intelligence. This reaction was everything I wanted to see and then some. Enjoy the Journey's End. And Beyond.

I have never cried so much while watching an anime then I have with Frieren. From start to soon to be finished, this is hands down one of the best story telling experiences I have had the pleasure of witnessing.
