I don't see how people think this is like dollhouse. Dollhouse is about a alcoholic mum, a cheating dad, and a drug addicted brother. How are gender roles like that?

it took me a whole fucking year to realize this song was about how gender roles are very problematic.

A song about how society is pushing people into following gender roles: Underrated and overlooked. A song about drugs and sex with no effort whatsoever and overuses autotune- Praised and wins ever award out there.

Instead of listening to songs about butts, people need to listen to songs like this with a actual HELPFUL message.

I feel really bad for people who have to deal with this whole "gender role" crap. Why can't we be the way we want to be? Society shouldn't be telling other people how to live.

I just realized my dad gender roled me.... When I was a bit younger I asked for an Xbox for Christmas. He said "Those are for boys. How bout something different?" I thought I was angry because he said no. But really I was mad because he said they're for boys. But really it doesn't matter. A girl could have an Xbox. And I'm one of those girls. But my dad thought differently.... Gender roles are the worst....

There's a lot of things to say, but I'll sum it up: WORLD IS FUCKED.

I love how people love songs about sex that don't even have a real message behind them But then songs like this go unnoticed because today's media uses gender roles to sell things so they wouldn't promote a song that calls gender roles out like this So I guess what im trying to say is:Everyone likes songs about sex and drugs but not songs that are actually meaningful like this one

As a trans kid i relate to this song so much...I'm ftm and there's a lot of judgement about how i don't fit the man gender roles and i always have to worry about what I'm doing and how i do it.

Funny how a teenager can make such an expressive song about the way society has divided male and female into two specific categories, categories that have to be followed by society's expectations or else they will be labeled as a freak and cast out. But an adult seems to only make songs about sex, drugs, or other such unoriginal and distasteful topics. Don't try to defend these songs, because there is nothing to them, other than the artists seem to only care about a person's body in the song, and not the actual personality of the person. I know, some artists that write these songs do not act these ways in real life, but it's just so annoying to hear the newest song on the radio just be about some girl that met some guy in a bar, had sex, and then ditched each other.

OK, so in class once I requested to play this song over everyone else's usual pop requests. Everyone else now thinks I'm crazy and I do get quite a lot of crap for it. Honestly, I think kids need to listen to this songs powerful message before deeming it stupid...
