In this video, I am creating a new MLB Franchise: The Savannah Bananas! My job is to rebuild this team in MLB The Show 24 and eventually win them a world series. This MLB create a team may be the hardest rebuild I've ever done in MLB The Show so I hope you enjoy!

  • This was a huge project so I hope you guys enjoy! What other teams should I rebuild? EDIT: Getting a lot of people thinking this is a new series and that I'm moving on from Pickles. This is just a one-off rebuild video. The Pickles vids still come out every Wednesday at 4 PM Eastern
  • Didn't expect this on top of the Portland Pickles journey but I'll take it!

I loved seeing this, as it mirrors my own created team in so many ways; including the average team OR, built on a bunch of players no one wanted or - in my case - players who deserve a chance and were not getting it - and a number of common players. I sold off the Rays and became the Carolina Alleycats. 1. Moved EVERYONE on the Rays to other teams, paying attention to which team needs the most help and at which position. Their best pitcher is a 76 OR and their #4 is a 68? They get the Rays 90+ OR Ace. Their best infielder is a 72 OR? They get a Rays 84 OR infielder. You get the idea. But who do we trade to get? 2. The MLB team is no higher than <72 average OR; <65 OR for AAA, <60 OR for AA. No one with an A potential may be acquired in the creation of the Alleycats... Unless acquired from the FA list. Please note, there were no A potential free agents. 3. Attention is paid to aging players that deserve a, "last chance," but stuck in the minors. The Tiger's Norris, moved back to SP is a great example. Andujar in the outfield. Dom Smith at 1st. Brett Sullivan and Carson Kelly at C, etc. In addition, we keyed in on players who should have been given a proper chance at a career and were not given a fair shake... Looking at 28 y/o Sullivan at catcher again and Christian Arroyo moved back to 3B! Last chance efforts... Kyle Lewis & Adam Frasier, for more examples. (Note: we ALMOST went with Tyler Wade.) 4. Young players that stood no real chance of seeing the majors anytime soon, due to a stacked roster that their position. Think of a 68 OR, 24 y/o, B potential SP, who is the 14th best (out of 20) SP pitcher on a roster, whose #5 on the MLB is an 82 OR. This guy will not see the MLB for at lest 3-4 years... if ever! We will use him now, as our #4 or 5, or AAA Ace. Same concept applies to all positions. The best acquisition we got this way is Mark Leiter. 5. Loyalty to players is a must. Unless a player is really abysmal, anyone over 32 will be given the chance to retire with us. Therefore, to fully improve the team, our players are - with few exceptions - generally over 27 and a number of them are well into their 30's. 6. No one over 75 OR. Please note, we did end up with a 78 OR SP. (Daniel Norris WAS once a SP, but listed as 72 (or 73) OR RP. Given his stamina was over 70, it made sense to give him one or two last seasons as a starter. Apparently, just the switch from RP to SP - and changing nothing else - can severely effect OR). Our 1st draft was AMAZING! 1. 1B, RF - Frank Kelly (Thing Frank Thomas, only bigger). 20 y/o, 6'7" 268 lbs. high 30s speed, 50's fielding & contact, 80s power. 71, OR, 96 potential. 2. LF, RF, 3B - Travis Dawkins - A 5 tool threat! 19 y/o, with 60+ in every major category and 70+ in contact and fielding, with 78 speed. 72 OR, 98 potential. 3. SP - Scott Sandoval - 20 y/o flame-throwing leftie and future Ace of the team. Like the line in the movie, "Trouble with the curve," he really does remind me of Sandy Koufax. He even has the same throwing style and pitches! 67 OR, 99 potential! We got a 99 potential in the 3rd round! (NOTE: We did alter his curve to a 12/6 curve to match Koufax's pitches, but did not change the stats. All other things were left alone.) Really excited about this guy! 4. SS - Ozzie Vaccaro - Listed in the draft board at only 17 y/o! Decent arm but high 70s fielding skills. 60s contact, yet 30s power. 68 OR, 95 potential. 5. C, 3B - Sam Burke - 19 y/o, 40s contact & speed, 50s power with a high 70s+ arm. Although he is only a B potential, he has some pop to his bat and a very good throwing arm. He could be the future starting catcher of the team. 65 OR, 89 potential. 6. We got screwed on this SP! Only a 58 OR with C potential. Likely a perennial minor leaguer. Realistically, I see him eventually being our #2 or 3 man in the AAA rotation. If someone on the MLB team gets hurt, I could see him make it to the majors one day as a long reliever. 73 potential. 7. RP - (I can't remember his name) - A 20 y/o leftie middle reliever, with 48 stamina and great control, featuring a circle change and a knuckle curve. As some of the older relievers fall off the MLB roster, I can see him grabbing one of those slots in a couple years. 64 OR, 82 potential. All these guys will start in AA. I fully expected Dawkins and Kelly to make it to AAA before our 2nd season is complete - and making the 40-man at the start of season 3. But not all things are going as expected. Please note, in season 2, we are about 1/2 way thru May and... Kelly already has 18 HRs in AA, with a .348 BA! Leads all of AA in HRs and RBIs. (Listed #1 AA all-star for 1B). Seriously guys, this guy is a beast! As I said, "Think: Frank Thomas, only bigger!" (Same swing too) Dawkins is struggling at the plate a bit, with only a .224 BA... But is great defensively and leads the AA team in triples! (9th on the all-star list for LF. Not likely to make the AA all-star team). HOWEVER, he WAS batting .196 at the end of April. He's been starting to hit a lot better in May. Let's see what happens over the next few weeks. Sandoval leads the entire AA league in KOs, IP and has a 2.42 ERA. (Listed #1 AA all-star for SP). I do easily see him as the AAA #1 or 2 starter next season. No desire to rush him. Let him hit the MLB when he's upper 70s or lower 80s OR. Bringing him up as a 75 or lower and he gets rocked? That could really hurt his further progression. He's only 20, I see him dominating the MLB at 23! Vaccaro is everything I hoped he would be in the field. However, his BA isn't the greatest, at .241. (6th on the AA all-star list. Unlikely to make the AA all-star team). He's also shown to have decent speed and is 2nd on the team in SB and doubles. Hopefully his bat gets better, as I can see him as the #2 in the batting order - even well into AAA & MLB - behind our AA CF Peyton Wilson (91 speed and potential MLB CF of the future) Burke is batting .264, with 6 HRs and is proving to be a very capable catcher, who guns down more runners than anyone else in the AA. Nothing great, but respectable. (4th in AA all-star votes for C. Slim chance to make AA all-star team)

  • Hey Scrawny! When you do the hitting moments during your rebuild are you actually hitting in those moments?!?! Or are you just watching? And if just watching, what camera angle are you using? Every time I try to watch my hitters in Franchise it makes me watch from the pitchers mound. Anything helps, thanks!!
  • @92CheshireCat
I’d love to see what would happen if the Nashville Sounds became their own MLB team instead of a farm team!
