Also yes, I already know that I called Fox a Falco clone a couple minutes in. I realized this weeks before the video was uploaded and could easily have rerecorded that line, but was sure it wouldn't be necessary. I can think of a self damaging, self healing glass cannon. Shadow Mewtwo from Pokken tournament. He has the lowest health in the game and half his moves deal self damage. However if you end a combo with one of those moves you can than use recover to regain everything you lost. However recover is move that requires a lot of commitment and if you get hit during it you won't regain anything. He's a fun and popular character.

If you’re looking for a fighter that messes with health, I’d highly recommend taking a look at the custom RoA character, Mycolich. Phenomenal implementation of health pool based mechanics.

Idk, I wouldn’t really consider melee Falco to be a glass canon. More a plexiglass canon

I feel as though a pokemon would be a really cool character for the "messing with their own damage" concept. Give them life leech moves, recoil moves and such, but you also have options like belly drum, which gives you a permanent attack boost for that stock, but instantly gives you 50% damage, or high jump kick, which is super strong, but damages the user a lot if it whiffs.

I don’t remember if you used as games as comparisons in past episodes, but I really liked the implementation in this video. Smash is the only platform fighter I play/watch and it’s interesting to see how other games go about it. Specifically when compared to a game that I do know, so I don’t get too lost. Great content. Love this series.

11:55-12:08 One example of this idea is in Under Night In-Birth. I'm primarily talking about the character Carmine, who has a multitude of life-leech and self-damaging attacks. He falls more into a trap-based zoner with the occasional burst of rushdown, but he is the best representative of your concept that exists in a fighting game to my knowledge.
