Destiny 2 Lore - Does "Ghosts of The Deep" show us how bad things are for the Lucent Hive?

Destiny 2's Lore and Story from the Ghosts of The Deep Dungeon might give us an idea of how bad things are for the Lucent Hive. The attempt to resurrect Oryx, The Taken King, is one of a few indicators that in the wake of Savathun's death, The Licent Brood is weakened and desperate. Ecthar and Simummah's plan to resurrect Oryx might also have helped us learn other things about the Lucent Hive's remaining Leaders.

The lucent hive should be thankful that getting rezzed with a ghost wipes your memories. Because if it didn’t they’d be awakening a very pissed off Oryx

"babe, Byf has uploaded a new video about literally anything"
  • Imagine how upset Xivu would be if the brood of one she despises deeply successfully resurrected Oryx and he joined their side. Imagine how conflicted she would feel since she basically worships him

Byf Alakhul is in the same state as Savathun with the possibility of actually being alive considering his ghost does indeed escape before we can destroy it

Mor’ak is a lucent hive commander we took down in the EDZ PsiOps battleground. There’s also another lucent acolyte called Thul-ar, Acolyte of Nokris (which you encounter through the Navigator catalyst puzzle), which could suggest Nokris is alive and potentially a lightbearer

It was explained that Oryx's body ended up in Titan instead of Saturn because when the Witness stole Titan, the cause a gravitational pull so powerful that it changed the body's trajectory and sucked his body onto Titan instead. Now I don't remember which lord tab armor/weapon this was from but it was from this season so there goes your main gripe about how Oryx ended up on Titan.

I for one think the Hive is thriving. Recently they have produced warriors boasting more hp than some raid bosses.

The Adherent of Mor'ak is named after the boss of the PsiOps Battleground in the EDZ. Pretty sure the only reason his name was used was that he is literally the only named Lightbearing Acolyte. Although, there is an interesting named boss encountered in the dungeon when going for the catalyst.

I really hope the Lucent Hive become a bigger part of the story, one of the only things I didn't like about The Witch Queen's narrative was the underuse of Immaru and subsequent absence of him in the post campaign story

There's a thing about Mor'ak, he's one of the commanders of PsiOps Battlegrounds, in this case, the EDZ Battleground; in the season of risen story, Mor'ak and the other two commanders has been weakened by Caiatl's Psions, and captured in HELM; but they died after Crow mistakenly freed the Psion and killed in process. Edit: sorry for my English.

I think this was part of Savathuns plan. Not to bring back Oryx, but to bring Oryxs corpse into our care. He's still alive, somehow. The Lucent Hive acted quickly not because of desperation, but because this was planned, because they already knew that he was there.

I personally think now that we have savathun and oryx in our possession, that savathun might have planned for this exact scenario so she could resurrect then immediately gain access to oryx's body.

Some of my favorite Destiny story moments have come from when our enemies are desperate like the Lucent Hive in the new dungeon or with the Shield Brothers in the Taken King

Morak (or however his name is spelt) was the hunter hive commander you fought in Psiops battlegrounds. He is known as morak the light stealer.
  • @ramz871
I really wish the Lucent Hive and Hive Guardians were more prominent. Our greatest enemy has our power and they are nowhere to be found? Really big missed opportunity to put them across the system, but it took them over a year to have two in a dungeon
  • @IKRUMEL
Morak has appeared before! He was actually the final boss of the psion battlegrounds in the European death zone. His name was morak the light stealer
  • @albala8695
Could it be possible that Savathun’s intentions were to resurrect Oryx? She didn’t expect to lose during WQ and in 2 truths 2 lies says the taken king will return.
  • @CatoCanadian
Morak was actually a boss in the lucent battlegrounds. He was known as the lightstealer I believe, and was killed after we scanned his brain for plans that Savathûn had
  • @johnd.zephyr2531
I keep telling you Byf, Oryx didn't crash on Titan, he was buried there by Xivu
  • @goronhead
The fact that all these important Hive commanders just happen to be getting rezzed makes it feel like they already have control over the whole process.
