Awesome! Great to see the monster Group B rally cars track racing. Those were the days! I was at Brands Hatch in '85 & '86 for the European and British GP's, and a Group C sportscar race in '86. The days of the turbocharged race cars were legendary. The Lancia S4 had both a turbocharger and supercharger. Insane!!!

rallycross started at Lydden because of the foot and mouth crisis in 1967. Rallying was cancelled using public forests and farmland so a one off event was created...on an enclosed circuit away from cattle. An instant success, won by Vic Elford in a Porsche 911.

Remember watching this live on the BBC, thanks for uploading.

THIS is rallycross! Lots of action (no bitchy judges), and a creative variety of cars. I would never expect a 700hp 4WD BMW today! Great video! :)

Loved watching the Rallycross from Brands Back in the 80s. I was probably even at this meeting.

This was brilliant to watch, I was there before druids. Schanche would take drifting on a new level, forget sideways, he'd be going backwards through druids and all in smooth control. He'd start 1st and finish first. Forget drifting, this was the best

Great video. Love how Palmer just abandons the car in the middle of the track there at the end!

I didn't know Rally Cross was that old... Awesome!

Nice to see the Group B monsters leading a life post WRC.

I enjoyed that. It seems the Dr missed his calling. He did extremely well considering it was his first rally-cross event.

Don't remember JP being in Rallycross!! This is PROPER Rallycross though, not the shit we get now! Was that an Xtrac Escort JP was driving?
