If a kid doesn't fear the man with pineapple shirt he is already good

I was playing a local tournament once and got matched up against the most serious looking guy wearing a suit. But I won and was full of confidence. Next game was against a guy wearing a shirt with a large picture of an ostrich on it. He looked way too relaxed, that's when I knew I was in trouble. Lost badly.
  • When Hikaru plays with the general public he almost seems.... human....

I initially didn't like Hikaru for some reason, but watching him play with strangers over the years, and clips from his stream, I now find him to be one of the most down to earth GMs out there. For someone competing in tier 1 chess, it seems like a rare and admirable quality. GG
  • "you wanna trade?" "sure" "yay" the happiness in his voice when he said yay i cant-

When you can't win a grandmaster, you murder his king
  • This is so wholesome. I love it when the kid messed up and Hikaru stopped to the time and let him move again just so the kid could learn from one of the greats. We will be seeing more of him in the future i know it
  • @ObscenumLoL
This kid will remember Hikaru for sure when he becomes a GM.
  • @beastop2972
The fact that he took the king even in the analysis board was hilarious ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

"I feel very stupid watching prodigies" -Me, rated 1000.
  • @CrouchingShiba
Nobody saw the final king take coming. This kidโ€™s gonna go places!
  • People forget that Hikaru was once a chess prodigy himself lol amazing to see him going against the youngester
  • The man was planning on just playing 3 people. Ended up playing even little Salami. I now love GMHikaru.
  • Alternative title: Guy in Pineapple shirt bullying a 9 year old in chess

Hikaru playing like a big brother ... not going full, but not sparing either. Kudos man, that was class and everyone had a great time

Way to go Golani Salami! You repped the Coffee Chess Crew well! We're so proud of you! We'll help you analyze your game when you come over today! Thank you so much for playing him GM Hikaru! It will be a memory he will never forget! Also, we have a tradition over at Coffee Chess where if the fans enjoyed a player's game, they can get them coffee and we put their link in the description but since this is being shown over here, and because links are not allowed in comments to prevent spam, I was hoping the editor can take the coffee link for Golan from Coffee Chess and put it in the video description here. But if he doesn't see this, any game with Golani Salami in Coffee Chess will have the link there if you would like to get him hot chocolate (he's too young for coffee). Perhaps Golani Salami will be the future Hikaru Nakamura! Thank you!

6:29 i love how hikaru stops the kids time cuz he knows the kid is really stressed by the crowd big bro moment

Good job Grand Master Hikaru, this game will live on with this kid for a long time. I appreciate the fact that you didn't let him win but challenged him to try hard. Im sure he's learned a few valuable lessons and earned the bragging rights of making it to the end game with one of the world's best. This video made me smile!
