Thanks so much for all the cool ideas in the comments! I am seeing some negativity towards Mojang and I want to remind you all to try and keep it constructive! They work very hard to make the game awesome for us. 💖 Keep in mind it's only a snapshot and everything is a work in progress, and everything in the video is just my personal opinions and feedback. 🙂 Keep these amazing suggestions coming, I am having so much fun reading them.
  • The statement about Minecraft not being an exploration game hits me hard. I lost my 3 year world to corruption and it all started when I got a message saying that my world was too big. I lost my world because I explored too much.

Diamond need to be more usable, in terms of crafting usage, diamond is less useful than iron. Diamonds are primarily used to make diamond tools and armor, which are the strongest and most durable tools and armor in the game (netherite is just a upgrade that make more stronger). However, these items are not necessary for most gameplay and can be replaced with iron tools and armor, which are more easily obtainable and still provide adequate protection and efficiency. Iron is also used to make a wider variety of items such as rails, minecarts, and buckets. Additionally, diamonds can be used to make certain enchanting items, but iron can also be used to make anvils, which are essential for enchanting items.

What I feel is that the use of diamonds doesn't feel justified, it just feels as an artificial way to increase its value/worth

“ we should also add the nether star to the recipe! “ Java players: 😊 Bedrock players: ☠

To be fair to the developers, this probably isn’t intended to be the items final state. The concept has probably been going around the developer circle for a while now and want player feedback on the idea.
  • @bubbledog12
Now I’m imagining a server where the starting players took every netherite upgrade and refuse to share it, then there becomes a sorta black market for upgrading your armor.
  • @lasercraft32
Just gonna say... Netherite is NOT overpowered. Its actually not that much stronger than diamond, especially for how much harder it is to get.

I feel like the best way to add the netherite upgrade into the game would be where you only need to find one, and then could add it into a special slot that allows that smithing table to permanently be able to combine netherite with tools and armor
  • @StanLeFox
I feel like they should rename the 'netherite upgrade' to something more intruigeing like 'mysterious tablet' or something, then when a new player find one they will think "oh, that must be important, i'm gonna keep it!" and so then when they use a smithing table they'll see the outline and go "oooohh, that's what that's for". Just an idea...

The netherite upgrade feels like it should be an actual item like “ancient adhesive” or “infernal binding”, not “netherite upgrade” cause that isn’t a thing. Edit: To clarify I wasn’t just complaining about the name, I was complaining that the item doesn’t feel like it’s an actual item. Rn it feels more like a little card that says you’re allowed to upgrade your gear instead of an actual object or substance that is something you’d physically need to upgrade the diamond into netherite.

I’d love to see an end/final dimension update much like the cave update. Completely overhaul how the islands are generated, add some new structures (maybe include a new end stronghold that has a key item needed for the ancient city portal
) and add a new end animal. Perhaps a chorus tree with a dull purple wood color with magenta leaves that have a slight glow? Think azalea leaves but magenta with little chorus flowers sprinkled around. Oh and add a craftable backpack that increases your inventory space by 2 bars.
  • I swear Mojang never missed until the upgrade template. Netherite is already such a grind from my experience and i feel like they’re messing with something that’s already rlly good. Plus bastions are already a good source of it. To encourage exploration I think they should just increase Netherite amounts in bastions, and maybe add an additional good loot item to find. But don’t change Netherite it’s so iconic and well done already.
  • @archmageshane
Honestly I think the idea of using magma cream somehow is great. It works really well. Not sure how I feel about the nether star though, and the "nether stardust" or some new adhesive item kinda seems like something you had an issue with near the start of the video, being some random item that just exists to make a crafting tree more complex
  • @elmacho2789
Just the idea of something called a netherite upgrade with that rectangular look and the icon on it feels really modded, and I feel like it doesn’t mesh with the rest of the game well. I’m glad diamonds have a new use, but they might have to rethink the implementation slightly.
  • @Toka_Taboo
I think it should take durability from the template to apply the netherite and can be repaired with diamonds or ancient debris. That way you can certainly use it forever, but you need to keep an eye on it.
  • @onionturtle3295
I think something that would make some sense lore wise is to still require you to go to bastions, but functional as a different thing completely. One thing that’s always bugged me is that this infernal metal that is completely fire proof and immune to molten rock can be smelted in your furnace and crafted on gold. My idea is to scrap the netherite upgrade and make it so rarely in bastions you can find an internal forge, like a blast furnace but with textures of ancient debris that only Piglins know how to make. You would have to fill it with lava and fuel it with blaze powder to turn scraps(now directly dropped from debris) into netherite after adding gold. Then the same tough smelting process would be needed to coat your armor with netherite. This would need a very large amount of blaze powder, giving it more use, and additionally the intense heat would have a small chance to cause an explosion, which doesn’t break blocks or itself, but can cause a lot of damage and burn your house if you’re not careful, which adds more character to the process as you’ll ideally build like a forge area for it. • @RasplinYT
Initially I thought the original method to make netherite stuff was simple enough. Interesting analysis
  • The magma cream idea to be more more accurate is really neat. I like the idea of having a high cost and using nether stars but not sure how piglins fit into that since they can have netherite items in chests. Maybe they just stockpile the netherite items from past players they have slain?
  • @awesomejoshua5328
I would say that the main problem with the netherite template is in servers that have a smaller world boarder. If one or two players get all of the available templates then no one else can make netherite themselves.
