Yore Life as X series continues with Part 1 (of 2) of the challenging life of a Victorian Era Gangster in 1850s and 1860s. This covers your life from birth in Ireland to immigration to Whitechapel, one of the crime infested and poor parts of London's darker and seedier underbelly.

Always worth my time! Thanks. When I saw the mom was a match maker, I already had a hunch that her health was destined to take a dive... at least she didn't get that weird jaw condition.

My family on my father's side fled Ireland in the early 1850s to Liverpool for a better life. 5 generations later, and my father still lives in Eastham on the wirral. I now live in Chester. Crazy how one event has moved an entire family to a new location.

People should take a look at how humanity has gone through some quite challenging times when powerty used to be a "normal" situation for so many people! This can and will pobably return in some form or another along the way of humanity! Even today we have a tendency to forget that there are very poor and suffering people in the world. DO NOT think that this will not happen to you! It can, and most probaly will, some time in the not so distant future.

many poor people kept their morals straight, their clothes and tiny homes clean even though the furnishings would have been few, worn and perhaps tattered. Tales from my grandmother.
