It's a privilege to hear EWI Pioneer Michael Brecker, who along with Nyle Steiner is responsible for so much of the growth of the EWI. But there is so much improvement that can be done, and EWI should absolutely be the wind instrument of choice in the future. Hopefully the traction in musicians will grow once the gear gets refined.

Did he say Akai might be making a new version? I hope that is true. I play the EWI4000s which has several features better than the newer EWI5000. The biggest disappointment with the 5000 is the fake acoustic sounds and some battery struggles. The Roland Aerophones sound too clunky - there is a big difference in transition between notes with the Akai being so much better. I hope Akai takes the 4000s synth version and adds the wireless features, adds some expression enhancements and makes a truly improved EWI. I also wish they improved the air flow. I drilled out my orifice years ago and it is a fantastic upgrade. I have wanted to buy an EWI for a fellow musician and for my niece, but I it takes too much tweaking to get good results. I'll buy them if they make it better.

Can anyone tell me what program Brecker uses to play the jazz scat patch (Roland) that you hear in this video from 2:56 with the EWI. what programs do you use?
