She is a musical genius. All Kate. Kate wrote it, produced it, plays the piano, sings the lead and the backing vocal.

Check out "Cloudbusting" and "Running Up That Hill"... they are both straight-up BANGERS. And her duet with Peter Gabriel "Don't Give Up" will have you in tears.
  • "This Woman's Work" is one of those rare songs that makes me WEEP just as hard the 1000th time I hear it as I did the 1st time I heard it. It is a steamroller of complicated emotions. An utter triumph of the combination of lyrics, music, vocals, and instrumental arrangement. Kate Bush is a genius on a level with David Bowie and Prince. She also directed the video as well. Please please please listen to her duet "Don't Give Up" with Peter Gabriel next - it is the PERFECT follow up to "This Woman's Work."
  • A little bit longer than 20 years ago, I lost my wife to cancer. My children lost their mother. It took two years, and in the end she was a shadow of her normal self, to the point that at the end she couldn't recognize us. Two decades later, and it still tears out my soul when I am reminded of her. I weep every time I hear this song. Including this time. This is why it took me six, nearly seven months to listen to this reaction.

PETER GABRIEL & KATE BUSH 🌟"DON'T GIVE UP"🌟 Incredible song & powerful video!

"Wuthering Heights" was recorded in 1978. "This Woman's Work" was recorded in 1988. Wuthering Heights was off her debut album called "The Kick Inside". She matured as an artist and her voice matured also. She also wanted her vocal in Wuthering Heights to be unreal as she was a ghost haunting Heathcliff.

I can't hear this song without wanting to cry - I find the emotion in the voice almost overpowering, just beautiful
  • @billyboycinci
This song was in a movie called " she's having a baby" and it's one of the most touching scenes ever. Please watch this movie. If the scene and this song doesn't tear up your eyes, you have no heart
  • @Shrykespeare
Never in history have I heard a voice like Kate's. She has some of the most beautiful songs ever. I hope you will listen to "Running Up That Hill" or "Rubberband Girl"... or even her heart-rending duet with Peter Gabriel, "Don't Give Up". And for another gorgeous, ethereal voice, please do Sarah McLachlan sometime. Her song "Sweet Surrender" is one of my all time faves. And hey!!! I recognize the actor in this video! That's Tim McInnerny from Rowan Atkinson's "Blackadder" series!

I love your’ reaction ☺️. Kate wrote this song to view the male perspective on child birth, how scary it must be for a man too. On that note Maxwell knew this and flipped the role to himself. It is brilliant really. He is amazing, she is amazing.
  • @eschdaddy
If you don’t tear up during this song…. You’re just not human.
  • @JoyfulOrb
She's also an author and a trained dancer, there's NO END to the Kate Bush awesomeness!
  • @mvellis3863
Yes, Maxwell did a cover. And Kate has incredible range in her voice (4 octaves) - in Wuthering Heights she was singing in her upper register because her character in the song was a ghost (many of Kate's songs are character-driven stories and she becomes the character when she is singing). Kate's song "This Woman's Work" came about when movie director John Hughes called Kate and asked her if she would write a song for his movie "She's Having A Baby" with Kevin Bacon. He wanted a special song to go with the scene in the movie where Kevin Bacon's wife was in the delivery room and there was a medical emergency and the lives of his wife and baby were in danger. During the scene Bacon is helpless to do anything but he starts remembering things from the past about their relationship. Kate accepted and wrote the song, recorded it, and produced it in a very short amount of time. Director Hughes had sent her a clip of the scene and Kate played it in the studio while she was composing the song. After the movie came out, Kate did this music video when she released the song as a single. Kate directed the video herself and changed the story slightly in that the man's wife has some kind of medical emergency and is in the ER (there is no indication of pregnancy) and the husband is panicking and thinking about all the things he should have said and done for her

Kate Bush is a British icon full stop! For me the greatest female singer ever her originality alone is on another level simply stunning, she has so many fantastic tracks 'Man with the child in his eyes' Running up that hill' 'Wow' Hounds of love' try to listen to them if you can you won't be disappointed! Kate had huge success globally but not in the US you really did miss out on such a unique artist America shame!!
  • @Joshualuv13
Kate Bush has one of , if not the most hauntingly beautiful voices and songs in history of Modern Music
  • @MegaWelshie1
Kate wrote this song in 1988 for the film "She's Having a Baby". It makes me cry every time I hear it. Beautiful.....❤
  • "Running up that hill" is a must hear from her. Also Maxwell was mentioned earlier. Listen to "Ascension" by Maxwell.
  • “Running up that Hill” is one of my favorite songs… Kate isn’t just a singer or performer, he’s an artist on multiple levels.
  • @Splitscreen83
She's just incredible. Anyone who listens to this without having goosebumps isn't human.
