  • It was probably a coincidence that this episode got released 70 years to the day after Christie got caught, but I like to believe Simon planned it with his big brain.

Still waiting on that casual criminalist Journal Whistler boy!
  • My son is 68 IQ. Special needs, yes, the number can be raised. It was 58! There were 10 years between tests. Great man, intelligent and smart..the special ed program is so watered down, I’m shocked they learned useful tasks. Neither were taught to read analog clocks! My husband and I taught them. Both have been learning since graduating high school…on their own!
  • I have to say Jen's editing is always on point! People that just listen to the episode really miss out. Thanks Jen!!!

One thing you missed. According to the pathologist Prof. Keith Simpson, Christie had a small tin with several clippings of different public hairs, not all of them matched his known victims. It is not known if those clippings that were unmatched came from living women, or other unknown victims.
  • You know, Alfred Binet, the person who created the IQ test, didn't think intelligence was static. The test was supposed to be a snapshot in time.

"Being dumb is hard" 😂😂 the motto of my life, Simon.
  • @jeff-gj6en
The film about this with John Hurt and Richard Attenborough is fantastic.
  • Would love to see you do a video on Albert Pierrepoint - dude had a fascinating life as an executioner. Sounds grim as a career, but apparently he had a strict code of ethics & developed methods to make the procedure as humane as he could. If I remember right, he executed Ruth Ellis & felt awful about it (complex, divisive murder case where she shot an abusive boyfriend) & it bothered him for years.

I Love how cranky he gets with Siri all the time. Lols makes me chuckle .
  • @DenitaArnold
This is sad, it's really sad. Not only for the women who were killed, but for the innocent man who was hanged. You might say that he was Mr. Christie's only male victim
  • @smittysmee
My favorite Simon quote of all time: Being dumb is hard 😂 😂 😂
  • "Who's thigh bone is that?" Is not a sentence I thought I'd ever hear😅
  • @Zappygunshot
Simon's views on the death penalty has finally come full circle! First he was against it for the sake of the sanctity of life; then he was in favour of it because of the existence of horrible people; and now he's against it again because of the fallibility of the justice system. That, ladies and gents, is what we call Character Progression!

Back in those days, a severe learning disability could often be misdiagnosed as a cognitive impairment due to unreliable assessment techniques. If he was making up stories that others were readily believing, that could be the case in Timothy's situation.

The 1971 movie 10 Rillington Place with a youngish Richard Attenborough as Christie sticks pretty close to all the facts and is worth a watch. Timothy Evans is played by a young John Hurt. The movie is based on the Ludovic Kennedy's book of the same name.
