My first landings on an Airbus A320

We did landing training on the D-ABNY (A320) in Rostock-Laage (ETNL/RLG), Germany. After 6 touch and goes we were released for the line flights. This base training is necessary after the typerating on the simulator. The traffic patterns where all flown by hand. No autopilot during training.

We had a great time on the aircraft. It was a lot of fun, flying that amazing plane in real for the first time!

I always find it so cool when flying these airliners without the uniforms!

From a 220 hour pilot I have to admire the consistency in touch down spot and centerline discipline, something that I am still trying to master in my Mooney. Nice job.

So a plane flies perfectly fine without the uniforms 😀😀😀

There is nothing on earth more fun than this. I could spend all day doing touch and goes.

Man this remind me of my ZFTT back in 2016 . Time flies. Now I’m on the bigger bus but the memories of your first jet landing will be with you forever.

Base training is always exciting, as I heard :) It's the first real aircraft after the sim, it is somewhat (or a lot) different than the sim, and there is always a chance for something not going as planned, such as rough landings. I heard it from a pilot who was participating in these on the jumpseat for safety reasons (just in case the captain becomes incapacitated).
  • Love the sound of those CFMs. I really miss working on them as a mechanic. Hopefully I can fly them as a Captain one day.

Brilliant video! Really pleasant to watch from this perspective and, of course, great piloting skills! 👏🏻

Such a cool video! I have no intent to become a professional pilot but I did try out an A320 full motion sim and can recommend that to everyone who enjoys this stuff! And, funnily enough, compared to my landings on the PC, it was rather easy to control and land. The connection to the aircraft is much better. I can only imagine how much better the actual plane must feel, real dream come true for you!

I'd kill to fly an A320 pattern for once in my lifetime, you're living the dream man

Whoa...just looking at you doing your first landing is exciting and thrilling at the same time! Well done!

In the USA, you get your certification for a particular airliner in a Class D flight simulator. You are doing things the old fashion way by flying the ACUTAL aircraft in a pattern several times to gain comfort with hand flying it.

Am Anfang des Videos macht es den Eindruck als wäre die größte Herausforderung gewesen, eine bequeme Sitzposition zu finden haha :) Danke für‘s Hochladen und die interessanten Ein- und Ausblicke!
  • So nice ,hoping so much to do the base training. Thanks for the video what a experience
  • Thanks for sharing, got mine IR CPL ready to go and pursuing ATPL

So cool! I wish we were able to do that in Brazil before the checkride...😅

One of the things I like about this video is I can see the pilots eyes and what he’s looking at - mostly. So interesting.
